Forums - Sony - Selling my Ps3. Do you think this is a fair price?

Alright, so my Ps3 broke. The Blu-ray brive burnt out on me. It's going to take $150 to replace from Sony. So I figured... If I am going to spend $150 on a Ps3 why don't I just buy a slim?

So this is what I'm thinking of doing.

Selling

HW:

60 gigabyte backwards compatibility Ps3.

6 axis controller.

Ethernet cable

Composite cables.

Recharge cable

SW:

Since I'm getting rid of my backwards compatible ps2 I'd sell all my Ps2 games with it.

GTA3

GTA:VC

FF10

FF12

Onimusha

Onimusha 2

Manhunt

Jak and Daxter

Tetris

Valkria Profile 2

Max Payne

GoW

Bully

RE4

PSN:

Some DLC for GH4 and GHWT

PAIN

Novastrike

Medievil

Wild Arms

Sodoku

Lemmings

Rag Doll Kung Fu

Super Star Dust HD

Pixel Junk Monsters

Pixel Junk Eden (Thats the name right? I'm doing this all by memory since my moms watching TV)

And maybe some other stuff.

So since a new Ps3 is $300 and I need to spend $150 for the repair I'd like to get $150 dollars for all that stuff. I know the 60 gigs are rare and sought after but do you think I could get $150 for it?

I'd be willing to offer another 6 axis, componant cables, Jabra blu-tooth, and headset recharge cable for another $50 - $150 (Hopefully the higher end with the headset included.)

If I were you I just get it repaired to be honest.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Why? I don't use the BC anymore. I've played all the games I'd want to on the Ps2.

What would you really gain from selling for $150, then spending $150 + tax just to get a slim? Well, other than losing out on money.

Your basically spending the same amount anyways.  Only difference is that you lose BC as well as a bunch of PS2 titles you can sell on eBay if you don't want them.

I work at Target. I can get a Ps3 for 270+ tax... I'd basically break even if I sell my broke Ps3 for $150

60GB by themselves go for $300 on craigslist, $200 minimum. For all that you could get at least $250, basically rendering your slim "free."

200$ sounds better

You're free to do whichever you choose, but I am just letting you know that trading a 60GB for a Slim only makes you lose. You gain nothing.

The only thing I'd be dissapointed about is losing out on all my save files. But I'm willing to depart with it.

I'd like the idea of having a new system with a 1 year warranty then risking spending another $150 if in less than a year I have another problem

So getting a slim I get a much bigger HDD. A 1 year warranty. And a smaller quieter less power hungry system.

I think you can transfer your info to your next PS3, so don't worry about losing your downloaded games. You should get $150 easy. Even if you go to Gamestop or somewhere shady like that. Take your PS2 games to a pawn shop, though. You'd be lucky if you got $1 for some of them at Gamestop. Of course, make sure that you delete any personal information from the Hard Drive. You don't want the next guy who gets your console having access to your credit cards or internet search history.

And I actually prefer the original PS3 to the Slim. You sure you want to go through with this?
