Wii is their second biggest money maker and most stable money maker currently. Don't get confused by all that anti-Wii propoganda. That admittedly, even EA is now throwing around to cover its failing profits. Also, am I the only one here who thinks the bigger story should be that a company is trying to use religion a a 'joke'? Even going so far as to double onto that tying religion into stereotypes as 'going along with the system' and insinuating that Wii is selling more because people are buying them 'like sheep'. This 'joke' is tasteless beyond just the simple Wii bashing. It pretty much hits on multiple levels of PR stupidity. |
Yah actually with the fake church protestors and now this fake game, EA is really making fun of both Protestants and Catholics to gain publicity. If you read further into it you also see the bashing of the Christian games industry, that a Christian company would even publish such garbage is an insult to the entire Christian industry which is worth about 200-mill a year. But I'm not offended personally by this ad, as I am protestant. But I'm suprised the Vatican or local Catholic churchs haven't gotten involved yet. The ad clearly mocks the average Catholic home.
But then again if the Catholic church got mad and reacted to EA's viral marketing. Or if the protestant churchs got upset over the fake protests it would just lead to more free publicity for EA. Infact I'm sure EA meant to insult as many people as possible to help spread the word. In other words you and I are doing EA's job for them by getting upset.

Wait!
I'm member of multiple gaming forums, and in the past days, ALL f them had SEVERAL threads on the subject of Mass: We Pray.
How could EA predict that it will turn into a meme? It was not THAT funny, there are REAL games that also get jokes, (We Cheer, Imagine Babyz), but never at that level.
I think this might be a proof that they are indeed using viral marketers as forum posters to generate hype.

Good god. People actually thing EA was up to this? Don't be so ridiculous. The game was obviously a hoax from someone in South America (where the web site is hosted). I can't believe how gullible some people are. I haven't checked it out yet, but just because (if) it links you to an EA game doesn't mean EA is behind it. Get real.
The same fake game was used as a hoax for the Xbox as well.
Surely if EA are using Nintendo's trademark in a derogatory manner then some sort of defamation of IP lawsuit could be used? (not a legal expert.)

I dunno. I've played Super Noah's Arc 3D.

EA loves Nintendo. Whenever I watch tv, however short, I see at least 3 Nintendo-specific EA commercials, highlighting the company's games for the big N's systems, and ending with the slogan 'EA + Wii = Fun for Everyone'
And they don't mention either PS3, PSP or 360, even though some of the games they highlight are available for those systems too.
Nintendo Network ID: Cheebee 3DS Code: 2320 - 6113 - 9046

What worries me a lot are people not getting a joke, quite irreverent, but by no means truly blasphemous. What worries me even more are brain deads not only taking it seriously but liking the idea of jerking some crosses together with their families, this clearly demonstrates that religious fanatics are the worst pervs, they get a sick sexual pleasure from mortifying any healthy and natural sexual instinct and activity, in themselves and in as many other people they can (and this is their sado-masochist trait) and replacing them with something that in normal people hasn't anything to do with sex (feticism and mystic delirium)!!!

No, they didn't name the fake "Mass:Wii pray", but "Mass:We pray" and Nintendo can't claim any exclusive right on the pronoun "we".
You can't spell 'weak' without EA.

Due to their own faulty actions. The Wii is almost 50% of the console market, and third parties ignore it. It is just plain stupid. EA needs to actually study the Wii audience and make a game they like. Nintendo has been doing it very well, so it may be time that EA take a good hard look at Nintendo.
