where did the OP go?
can someone do all the calculations & make a new thread on this please
All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey
Darth... I updated this morning. Do the charts not show up? There were issues earlier this week but I thought it had all been cleared up.
Everything looks good from here. I'm glad to see the thread got updated today. Now it's time to wait and see if the fabled 1 mil week for PS3 can happen and throw a real curve ball into this race.
World update.
Notes:
1) The post-Black Friday drop was kinder to the 360 last year than to the PS3 this year. 360 price cut beats PS3 price cut in every category this week. 360 2008 outsold PS3 2009 and 360 2009 outsold PS3 2008. Pretty close though.

Americas update:
NOTES:
1) NPD released this week and indicated that VGC undertracked 360 for the US so some adjustments may be forthcoming for November numbers but so far only minor adjustments have been made.
2) Not a great week for Sony in Americas as PS3 drops pretty hard post-Black Friday and is actually slightly outsold by the 360. Still PS3 is up 44% yoy while 360 is down 29% yoy for the week

Yeah, that was a pretty hard drop in the Americas and then the NPD numbers stating the PS3 lost to 360 in november makes it hard to believe in the million week. But on the bright side (for PS3 fans)is that the PS3 is still leading by a cool million when you compare price cuts. How long is this thread going to last anyway till mid january?
My intent was to carry it through the holidays so yeah, probably mid-January. If I stop, I might revive the thread in March when a lot of big releases happen, but probably not as the point was to track the price-cut effect, not the effect of the release schedule. For that reason, I think it's only suitable to go through the holidays.
World update:
1) PS3 has now outsold 360 by over 2M since the slim launch.
2) The 360 price-cut performed better than the PS3 price-cut in every category again this week. Next week is a different story, though, as the Japan FFXIII launch (>245k PS3 units according to Famitsu) will push PS3 2009 sales well over the 360's 872k from last year.

There is still a chance for PS3's price drop to tie the 360's last ten weeks from last year. While still being a 100 dollars more, not bad. I wish they had a counter last year to the 360 price drop. The PS3 would of had a truly stupendous year this year if they had.
