I also find it funny that Level 5 claims JRPGs are losing momentum in Japan when White Knight Chronicles is soon to be their best selling RPG that isn't called Dragon Quest ever in the country.

im sure he's talkin about in generally, of course there are a few exceptions( FF,DQ.ROF) JRPG's are failing to see good sells( were lucky to see them hit 500k) compared to last gen were a great deal at least made it 500k

JRPGs really weren't selling amazingly last gen either, at least not outside Japan.  Hell, most didn't do amazingly the gen before that even.

Inside Japan, JRPGs are still doing fine on DS (and to a lesser extent PSP and consoles).  The mid/low tier stuff is doing a little worse than before though, but the biggest series (DQ, Pokemon) are doing better.

i think were about Japan...?....W/e im lost

In Japan, out of Japan, it doesn't really matter.  JRPGs are generally in the same state they've always been, they just transitioned to a new home.  Lamenting genre decline now because of PS3 RPG sales is like lamenting genre decline in the late 90s because of N64 RPG sales.

Haha N64 RPGs, makes me think of Quest 64. I actually really liked that game -.-

I think JRPGs need to evolve. At least if they want to be commercially successful. Evolve into what? I'm not sure, but have there really been any innovations lately? At least some WRPG developers (bethesda and bioware come to mind quickest) are trying to do new things.

@XXain

u no Xxain i hope to god ur right about ROF. Yea sure ill get it and ill probably love it. But saying it will be the best JRPG over FFXIII is a bit of a far stretch. Tri ace has a good track record when it comes to gameplay no doubt. But when it come to the story telling and characters overall, they have been pretty sloppy in these regards(looks at SO4). So i wouldnt be getting my expectations up so high if i were u
