It's an American movie starring the girl who played Juno (Ellen Page) in a very different role.

I'll recommend it especially to guys (not for the reasons you think), but anyone who wants a different experience than most movies out there and isn't too squeamish. It's not an easy movie to sit through, but is very good none the less.

If you are going to watch the movie, I suggest you do not read up or search about it online, because it will literally ruin the movie for you. Just find it and buy it (or rent it) and watch it without any research.

The one thing you might need to know is that the main characters are a 30 something guy who meets a 14 year old girl online, but that's more to get into the subject matter. You do not need to know that before the movie begins because it is explained very well in the opening scene.

If someone has watched it spoiler your comments if needed.

It does have a good amount flaws but they are outweighed by the whole package easily.

That movie was really bad imo. It had a lot of awkward moments and an unpleasent story.

It's really rare that I don't like a movie and Hard Candy is one of those few.

Did you watch the whole thing? As for awkward moments and unpleasant story it is dealing with very serious and taboo subjects, it's not meant to be a happy movie so to speak.

But yeah, it is not for everyone, especially younger and more timid viewers.

I own this movie, actually. It's pretty improbable and the ending was pretty cliché but it's definitely worth watching.

I would recommend it as well. It will make you uncomfortable, but it's still worth a watch.

Hard Candy

I agree with the ending, it was the weakest part of the movie and yeah it might be improbable but that makes it even more of a shock. And it's not impossible :)

Agreed. They could have done more with the ending but overall, the movie was a pleasant surprise. I happened to get it on On-Demand two years back and enjoyed the film (about as much as one can "enjoy" a film like that, anyway).

The only two "VGChartz recommends" movies that I know of are Old Boy and Hard Candy. Based on the content of these two films (I won't spoil either), what does that say about us?

Hard Candy is certainly a pretty awesome movie, it can be uncomfortable to watch at certain times though... lol.
