"shooters are all they have" is a very short-sighted comment. Just because xbox's biggest games are shooters doesn't mean that's all there is.

As to the D-pad, I haven't noticed that, but then again, I hate fighters these days, so that might be part of it.

As to controllers, I HATE the shoulder buttons on the PS3 controller. I've maybe logged a total of 40 hours of play time with it (just bought my ps3), and it's already infuriating. I would HATE to play shooters on the PS3, but that's not what I got it for anyways.

Further, I'm ambidextrous, and I play shooters southpaw, and I have no problem with the xbox controller, I actually prefer it. There's something about the set up on the right side thats easier for me to do than on the PS3 controller (even if those blasted shoulder buttons weren't an issue)

The real issue, Xbox typically has a higher frame-rate. Higher frame-rate = superior in terms of gameplay for shooters. Actually are any games logged as higher frame-rate on PS3? I don't know, but other than KZ2 and maybe Resistance (both), all of which I'll just borrow, I don't plan on playing FPS on PS3. Maybe MAG if it turns out better than I expect.

Would http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/catalog/PS3-Real-Trigger-Kit-p-2796.html Make you happy with the trigger buttons?

Oo, perhaps, I just bought the PS3, so I didn't look into this yet.

They sell 'em at most best buy stores, and I think at GameStop as well...They're cheap enough to where it's worth a shot (No pun intended), IMO

Just waiting for that PS Vita to come out so I can play some full featured games on the go with that beautiful screen and control scheme...

I think the 360 controller is almost perfect for shooters, but Is a pain in the ass for sniping in COD (holding down breath with analog stick, aiming with other).

This is where im glad I play partial southpaw. My look stick is left, move is right, but none of the buttons are mixed up, so sniping is cake for me (though my sensitivity is typically too high to easy sniping, I have to play for a few weeks to get used to it -.-)

@Vanbierk,

Yeah, I'll definitely pick some up soon, thanks for the heads up.

I think the PS3 install base isn't quite as FPS centric as 360, however it clearly can support a decent FPS community.

I note that big titles tend to sell roughly equally in ratio to the user base, while smaller FPS will tend to sell better on 360 in ratio to the userbase - i.e. PS3 owners like FPS, but big titles apart are somewhat less likely to want to get every FPS going than 360 owners.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I don't think there is that much difference in the states at least. My personal feelings are that I dislike the Dualshock for FPS, the swing on the analog sticks is too long and the convex sticks aren't my favorite, not grippy enough either. All FPS for me are on the 360, but many many other game types on the PS3.

There is 25% more X360 than PS3, but FPS games aren't selling 25% more on X360 but 50-70% (despite piracy).

MW2:

0.11 copy on every PS3 owner;

0.14 copy on every X360 owner;

Do I need to say more ?

Those numbers come from 1st week cod sales / total uuserbase I assume?

That's not a decent comparison, because for example the PS3 sells better in Japan.

Compare only America/Uk/Australia/Canada and they seem to be fairly even

Real Trigger are awesome. I use them for my PS3 gaming. I love those things.

I need to take them off when playing fighters though. Shoulder buttons that curve up suck when I play fighters.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
