Producer-Lead-MGS-Epic
Job Category: Software Engineering: Creative
Location: United States, WA, Redmond
Job ID: 703503
Product: Xbox Gaming
Division: Entertainment & Devices Division

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Microsoft Game Studios (MGS) is looking for a Lead Producer to lead the publishing side of games made by Epic: Gears of War and Shadow Complex.

You will work with an experienced team at MGS and the world-class developers at Epic to drive the success of Gears of War and Shadow Complex in the highly competitive and fascinating world of interactive entertainment. Executing on a major franchise takes many traits, but above all else stand teamwork, leadership and a dedication to excellence. Coordinating the efforts of large hit between two large teams at Microsoft and Epic is a big responsibility. We're looking for the best and brightest to help us continue to drive the success of the MGS and Epic partnership.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a Lead Producer on the Epic franchises in MGS, you will work directly with an Executive Producer to help lead our Gear of War and Shadow Complex efforts.

This role has a wide range of responsibilities:
Build a strong working relationship with the game development team and help them with any obstacles to ensure that the game is "fun" and on time. When working with our premier development partners, it is also critical to have a thorough understanding and love for the genre of games in the genre they are working on. The goal is to deliver the best games ever produced in this genre.
Lead a large cross-functional "virtual" team, including groups as diverse as: Programming, Art, Game Design, Audio, Test, Marketing, Content Publishing, User Research, Localization, Business Development, Finance, Legal, GeoPolitical, web site development teams, and more.
Lead, grow, and manage a small team of producers across both Gears of War and Shadow Complex.
Identify problems in advance and drive creative solutions to fix them. A Lead Producer needs to be able to see challenges before they arise, create plans to manage the tasks and alleviate the risks, and pitch in to execute those plans as needed.
Work with the Epic and the teams in MGS Publishing to balance the game schedule and milestones with the fun/quality of the game.
Drive communication between MGS and development partner, within MGS, and across MGS and the rest of the Xbox organization. Provide regular status to the various MGS teams, including conducting internal reviews with leads and MGS Management.

Agreed.

And for Gears Of War, maybe they are talking about a new DLC or something. However if they need more people, this can be big.

They said once that a third person Shadow Complex isn't impossible, I hope they are doing such game.

Great news, especially since I love me some Gears of War and Shadow Complex. I'm going to assume that this pretty much confirms a Shadow Complex 2? It would be interesting if Epic became first party, but I really don't mind having them as a second party, it's pretty clear that they and Microsoft have a great relationship at this point.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

With Epic 1st party Microsoft could harm 3rd party PS3 games.

You mean MSGS? MS really needs to hire some people who can research the alphabet. I'm sure if they put enough money into it, they can see they don't have to use everyone elses acronyms all the time..there are others that wouldn't make them look so lazy.

That said, good! Gears isn't on my radar, but Shadow Complex was pretty nifty if I do say so myself!

What are you talking about? M=Microsoft, G=Game, S=Studio. And when was the first Metal Gear Solid released, and when was Microsoft Game studio founded?
