Forums - General - So who's going to be the European president?

I'm probably one of the only ones that want Europe to become 1 state.

I have no nationalistic feelings towards my own country at all especially with the French speaking part of Belgium. "Scilt ende Vrient" is probably one of the only things I'm proud of in our history.

For me Europe doesn't have to be a state but I liked how it was described in the book 'The United states of Europe' from Feierhofstade. If their was no European Union I doubt Europe would have been a better place to live in.

The Eu made living in Europe so much easier especially if you are someone who wants to travel in Europe and wants to enjoy the wonderfull nations the EU has.

Europe was so hard to live in the sixties. Studied architecture in Spain and wanted to work in Germany..Forget it, only if you had studied architecture in Germany you could work their.

Now you simply can. Thx to the EU.

Europe was a continent where the citizens were almost locked up in a cage, a cage that was their nation.

the EU made the life of the Europeans so much easier...Is their something that EU did that made life worse?

i odnt htink the UK will ever want to be part of "one europe state" and in osme ways i can see why...it does seem that the countries eho gain the most out of EU are generally the poor ,econimcally umiportant ones

Ah sure they will.

Well in the same way a man would want to cut off his arm to save his life.  If it gets far enough along the UK probably will be forced to join or risk economic exclusion.  I mean maybe they could get an alternate deal from the US to stay independent... maybe?

I don't like the words...'Forced to join' UK don't needed to join, it is not like Norway and Switzerland are now suffering because they are not EU members.

Not currently, because Norway and Switzerland have good bilaterral trade deals with the EU.  Should those get pulled once the EU takes a firmer shape towards a super country though....

Quite a few people in britain think it is sad and ironic that they fought to be independant and are now essentially "an offshore island of europe where france and germany hold sway"

Yeah, they really should of been for it from the start.  They'd of no doubt led the EU as far as shaping it had they.

Leaving it to France is a scary thought... I mean women didn't even get the right to vote there until 1948 to vote.

So with the NATO HQ, EU Parliament and EU Commission located in Brussels, and the EU president, president of the International Olympic Committee, next year EU presidency,...all being Belgian, the last remaining position would be the head of the UN right?

New world order under Belgium?

Read this on neogaf, had to lol. Bow down for us.

USA have been discriminating black people till like what? 1960s?

Does that mean they can't lead their country (now and then)?

It would be a scary thought to leaving it to Great Britain. First country to abolish slavery, but at the same time supporting the southern states during the civil war in America.

You can say stuff like that about any country.
