Tories? = Conservativs?

thats what people call them, though technically they are different to the traditional tory party, they split from them, its kind of a nickname for them more than anything now, though I can think of a few other nicknames that Id like to call them

Anyway, my money would be on Tony Blair. If you ignore the wars he got us into, he was actually an extremely good leader. Of course this is from a UK perspective, so I am a little bias and not too familiar with the other potential leaders.

you would have to ignore more than just the wars...but you have a fair point, id like to see him in the role just to see the tories go into meltdown because of it

Hmm? I think you may be a little too young to remember when new Labour came in, in the late 90's. I was only 12 at the time though. Anyway, when Tony Blair first came in he reformed a lot of the public services (and a few other things), after a couple of years though he lost it a bit.

This is like the arch-cardinals choosing a new Pope. It's the Holy Roman Empire all over again.

Is this why Tony converted to Catholicism after leaving office?

Just confirmed, Herman Van Rompuy will be the first European President.

I wonder what this'll mean for Belgium. The country has been pretty instable during the last few years.

flemish.

Van rompuy is European in the first place;

BTW Catherine Ashton (UK) becomes minister of Foreign Affairs....So UK won something as well.

Foreign affairs sounds better suited for an UK candidate if I think about it.
