Forums - Gaming - How Xbox360 Console Banning Could Initially Help Sony

With the recent news of Microsoft’s banning the accounts of pirates using modded systems, there is a given fact that a percentage of those people will be purchasing another Xbox360 in the near future. There is an estimate between 600,000 and 1 million systems have been banned. It’s only common sense that Microsoft is going to use the banned 360 console numbers plus the re-purchased console numbers to boost their sales figures, and to add to their next report of Xbox Live accounts for the winter time.

Oddly enough, it seems Microsoft is only banning consoles in US and Canada. There is a reason why Microsoft is only banning in those territories. It’s because US and Canada are the only territories they are currently leading against the PS3, as of now. Sadly, the fact is that the Xbox 360 is the least console in demand right now. With the PS3 being at a 299.99, which is the same price of an Xbox360 Elite, a lot of consumers may sway towards the PS3.

yes pirates who chose 360 only because they could play pirated games on it will buy ps3 - you should send application to sony since you - my friend - are a genius.

A lot of people did only buy a 360 because they could pirate on it, I mean, a lot is relevant, maybe a few hundred thousand, but they certainly did. Boards that allow that discussion will surely give you that impression. I bought my wii because I could put homebrew on it.

Cut....print...the end.

All right shut 'er down she's done for. This tread fails in immense proportions.

I don't see any argumentation for them going to PS3 in that article... besides equivalent price as an elite (banned xboxes only need an arcade btw as they already have the rest of the gear, so the price is not equivalent).

not sure what to say, most pirates i'm sure have all 3 systems cause they save on pirating thus a $300+ doesn't seem so tough to make.

and as for microsoft counting those peopel that need to rebuy as new purchases is funny. Whether you meant buying new consoles, or just new xbox live accounts or both is just funny.

If for online accounts, ha compare them to what. Sony's online accoutns which include forums accounts, psp accounts, and ps3 accounts. and you can have multiple accounts, no restriction.

or if comparing console numbers, lol again. what you can't count people having to buy new systems due to theirs being banned or bricked, yet no eye batted when new versions of a system comes out. I mean hell it is always thrown out that PS2 has whatever ammount of users. 120 million, 140 million or whatever figure is. But you hear of how many different PS2's people went through ebcause of it dying on them, and then the PS2slim coming out. How many people went and switched to that.

Numbers are only in your favor all the time. If your gonna bring up RROD, banning, bricking, new models or whatever for console numbers for one company don't neglect to do the same for the other. Don't be a hypocrite.
