Forums - Gaming - Will PC,360 & PS3 game prices increase after MW2 success

Their was alot of backlash after Activision decided to increase mw2 prices on PC,360 & 360 in several regions.Even with this increase in the Software price,MW2 has been a huge success. So could we see other Publishers doing this for their own games in the coming future and become the standard pricing of all the games after some time.

In my opinion,I think so that the game prices are going to increase in several regions like UK,other EU countries,etc.MW2 was the perfect game to test the increase in the price of game cause people were going to buy the popular FPS anyways even if the price was increased further.

Not sure about other European countries, but didn't the UK have some pretty huge price cuts day 1?  It was still $60 in the US for consoles, and there were a lot of offers for PC to get it down to $50 as well as gift cards/credit.  IIRC one of the news posts said the average price was lower than GTA IV, and that only had 1 $90 special edition, compared to MW2 going up to $150.

I doubt people will make the same mistake again. MW2 had tons of hype over it, and that helped out a lot with the sales. Companies may try it, but, will the customers be willing to buy it again?...

i think if a trend is set like it was set by big games like GT5,HALO,MW2,FF,MGS,etc then yes people will get the habit of paying more and then they will not feel any difference.

The thing is, it wasn't actually any more expensive in most places. I paid €49.99 for DiRT2 first week (or maybe it was second week). I paid a similar price for Killzone 2 I believe. Hell, most of my games were €44.99-€54.99. Modern Warfare 2 cost me €49.99, so it was no more expensive that a normal game. Hell, at the beginning of the gen, most games were €64.99-€74.99. I can't see that happening again.

MW2 was was of the cheapest new releases I've bought, thanks to the $20 Amazon GC.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.
