We just have to wait and we will see what happens its all speculation. There is no evidence that you have to be the leader to survive 10years or more. Maybe just Sony Consoles can live 10 years maybe it has nothing to do with the leadership. Maybe 60-70 Million Consoles are enough. We had never a case in the past which was even similar to the case today. We have 3 Consoles and the strongest Console didnt even have half of the market. The weakes competitor has more potential sales power then the leader in the 16 bit gen. We just have to wait and we will see.

Well PS3 reaching 60 million is no sure thing, as its trailing the PSP in sales, and the PSP has been on the market for about five years and still hasn't reached 60 million.

Also part of the problem of not being the market leader that results in why consoles don't survive, is because Consoles that aren't the market leader don't see support after the next gen is released, PS3 sees software support because third parties spread across the 360 and PS3, with multiplats, like Modern Warfare 2, once the next gen starts, the PS3 won't see the support of those games, unless the 360 also survives.

 

I actually metioned that PS3 would likely lead Wii until late november or early december, once NSMB Wii launches, that will change, fast, not to mention, FF13 will sell less than 2 million in Japan, so PS3 won't have as big a Holiday Boost as Wii will have

ps1 and ps2 didnt last 10 years just cause they were leaders, they lasted 10 years because sony gave them great support throughout! and if they keep supporting the ps3 like how ther are doing right now, then they can keep it on the market as long as they want. all they have to di is give reasons to keep buying it, even the original xbox could have lasted 10 years if microsoft never dumped it!

if the ps3 sells more than the wii in japan for november and december combined, please never post on the forums again! i think its pretty much safe to say the ps3 will sell more in december with final fantasy releasing. obviously to you its not, but you think the wii's gonna sell 300 million so... we know what your predicitons are..

No they lasted because they were leaders, because they had strong software support and continued to sell long after their successors came on the market, in fact for a while the PS3 was losing to the PS2 in weekly sales in some regions, the PS3 doesn't have that

dont doubt sony, they have changed the video game world with ps1 and ps2, and now ps3, things will only get better, all the haters will still hate, but sony will servive the economc times, and yes there will be a ps4 and ps5, and on. god of war 3 lets go

No, he has better data, and even Famitsu and MC are saying that NSMB Wii will outsell FF13, by a large amount, all three expect NSMB to sell more than 2.5 million and FF13 to sell less than 2 million, closer to 1.5-1.6 million lifetime, so yeah.

In addition,  Last year Wii was selling about the same, as it is now, and Wii ended up ramping up quite high over the holidays, even without a big game, this year however they have NSMB Wii, so sales will be even higher.
