| Pineapple said: I don't understand why people dislike this message. If someone came from 2020, and showed you a game that had the exact same control mechanism, but looked better, would you be impressed? Essentially, this video says "it's not technically impressive, and it's not revolutionary, but it's fun". And that's actually rather close to the truth about NSMB Wii.
It is also, in a sense, a mockery of the Playstation 3 and X360 fans. They sort of behave the same way as people did in 1990. (I'm not saying that Ps3 and X360 owners actually do this, but it's sort of the message the video sends). I'd say this video is definitely pro-NSMB Wii.

Probably because they didn't get the same message you did. What I got out of it was that NSMBW fans were getting eaxcited about outdated gaming. I like your interperetation better, but it's not so clear. Even the soapbox bit could be seen as a complete flip-flop, like an apology for the earlier parts. What I don't get is, if what you said is the message was the message, why wasn't the pong guy impressed?
"Now, a fun game should always be easy to understand - you should be able to take one look at it and know what you have to do straight away. It should be so well constructed that you can tell at a glance what your goal is and, even if you don’t succeed, you’ll blame yourself rather than the game. Moreover, the people standing around watching the game have also got to be able to enjoy it." - Shiggy
