Forums - Gaming - How will the 600,000 banned Xbox360 will change sales

Most of the pirates I know don't really care about MP. They'll do it sometimes, but they really just don't care, the system still works, they can still copy and play games. Most of them won't buy new systems. Of the few who do, most of them will just buy another 360 and be more careful. Buying a 300 dollar system and never paying for games beats buying a 300 dollar system and needing to pay for games.

obviously there's going to be those that buy another 360 and wait for a new mod. but, there's definitely going to be people that will keep their banned xbox for pirated single player games and buy a ps3 for multiplayer.

no matter how big of a 360 fan you are, there has to be a few games that you'd love to play on the ps3.

they will buy an xbox for cheap on ebay...then do the same thing again

I'm not martin luther king. I don't have a dream. I have a plan

Sell a man a fish you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish you just ruined a perfect business opportunity.

We didn't emerge out of the stone age because we ran out of stones. Its time to be proactive not reactive.

@ riecsou

Exactly. And a person with two consoles doesn't buy two copies of the same game.
Double purchases increases the console install base only from and hardware prespective, from a dev prespective the market is the same.

And this sentence is only valid referring to double purchases. Don't get me wrong and start the flamewarz :P

It's not about loving games, or being a 360 fan, it's about being able to play free games.

sadly, I think they will stick with the 360 ...

what a good strategy : CoD6 released ==> BAN !

what a boost in the sales it may induce ..

Time to Work !

One person I play online with was banned and he bought a new 360 the same day.
Another who was banned is a student and cannot afford a new one, I lol'd.

I think most will stick with the Xbox since their live accounts unfortunatly were not banned an many of them will have very high GS from all the games they pirated.

Probably no PS3 for them, they couldn't pirate their games on it.

Probably most of them won't do anything for a long time, just keep playing offline.

1 of my friends shifted to ps3(already had it) but he says he still goin to play his banned 360 for the exculsives cause online is not that important plus the game is free cause the priates are still puttin out the games none the less

We all heard more than a week ago that 600,000 owners were banned from XboxLive for piracy reason. My question is how do you guys think this will affect the sales for the weeks to come.

1) Will all 600,000 owners buy a new Xbox360 thus boosting Xbox360 sales worlwide

2) Will all 600,000 owners will get mad and buy a PS3 thus boosting PS3 sales worlwide

3) Or do you thinks some will rebuy the Xbox360 and others will buy the PS3 (if so mark you percentage for each)

And if you were the one banned what would you do.

My answers:

I think some will rebuy the Xbox360 and others will buy the PS3. ( 60% for Xbox360 and 40% for PS3)

If i was banned, unless my favorite game is an exclusive I would just move to another console.

Seeing many ignorant (as in, non forum going, don't keep up with gaming news) 360 owners in America, they won't buy a PS3. They'll probably say it sucks, is too expensive, XBL is God, and they PS3 has no games....then buy another 360. Like I said in a thread sometime ago: I'm like the only person I know who hasn't had his 360 break on him...yet. All of my friends that have 360s, and I literally mean ALL of them (about 10 or 11) have had their 360 break on them in some way or another, and simply bought a new one (except my one friend, who got pissed at Microsoft (Windows Vista running on boot camp made his MacBook implode) and took his 360 to the range and shot it)

"Why buy a new one, RRoD is cover by warranty". Like I said, ignorant owners, and also, not all the problems were RRoD induced
