Wow.
We had to wait til the 6th comment for the first 360 owner to post a comment in here.

So this survey says that since early 2008 it is 34%, "which is double the PS3 failure rate"

1. The failure rate of the PS3 is 17% then? I doubt that and I also doubt the 34%

2. What is the failure rate of the 360 since the latest (and best) incarnation.... I'm guessing very close to the PS3.

I think reasonable has it right with his post.

Yeah yeah so everyone with the older version should run to the shop and get a new Xbox which has only twice the % failure rate of "every" version of PS3. Nice logic there. You either count them all, or don't bother. If someone made 50 20 milions of shitty products and after 4 years in the business come with product that is half less shity than the previous versions, you could just close your eyes and pretend it didn't happend?

IMO

what the hell does what you say have to do with what i say...?  where do i say ignore it? where do i say its acceptable?

Care to explain what does the latest incarnation of X360 have to do with the failure rate percentage at the OP against which you are obviously fighting?

Care to present your own opinion on the subject? In other words what do you expect to be the real numbers? As you are clearly defending the Xbox I'd like to see how much biased you are, since in every thread you post, I can hardly believe that you really mean what you say.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

ouch i have a ps3 and wii and 360 and i got my 360 from UK i hope it doesnt break lol xD

These articles are as misleading as the news when it says so many people have died from the H1N1 vaccine. In the vaccine case, they count anyone who has died and who has received the H1N1 vaccine. So if you got hit by a bus and took the vaccine, you're counted. So that's how that is misleading.

In this surveys case, it's misleading because:

1. Self selected means people opted into it which means people that have more emotions are the ones willing to participate. That means people who have had their 360's fail are more willing to participate.
2. They merely say broken down-- that could RRoD, the person kicking their 360, or any number of things.
3. Even if 60% were true, that does not mean that if you buy a 360 today it has a 60% chance of failing. That poll should cover all models of the 360. For all we know the 40% that didn't fail could all be new ones.

So yes, again, this survey is stupid and unreliable but I'm sure fanboys will still use it in forum e-penis wars. -_-

And yes, I want that plushie.

-edit-

And it does make me laugh that 60% of the time an article is posted that puts a console in a negative light the person who posted that article doesn't even own the console in question...

and they continue to buy it ...

this company makes some big shit but has the money to recover from all their mistake (RROD/Vista)

...

...

And people continue to buy the jacked up poll. Ironic, no?

oh, but ... wait ... it is not like RRoD doesn't exist, right ???

whatever the number they claim, it is just too high and there is nothing to be proud of it or to defend it ...

Surely as a mod you realize that last comment refers to what is a basic law of the forums.  Anyone posting dubious but potentially really bad news about a console must not themselves have ever owned said console.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

@Kowenicki

Man why cant u just accept the fact, the Xbox 360 has a Falure rate of 360%, Why do you think they named it that in the first place?

Somini: Let's make it clear, You don't have an X360 and post some shitty untrustworthy survey about it's failure rate. What for ?

You have a right to do it but that's just lame...

Welcome to TrollChartz where the console warz are fought inch by inch, thread by thread.

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

Survey results aren't reliable.

@kitler53,

It is mentioned in the article,

"This was a self-selecting survey, so it doesn't represent a random sample of console owners. It's likely that people whose consoles have had problems are more motivated to fill out the survey, but the results are still interesting when you compare the Xbox 360 to its competitors"

From Wikipedia,

Self-selection is a term used to indicate any situation in which individuals select themselves into a group, causing a biased sample with nonprobability sampling.

So basically it was like the weekly polls that we have around here?

Yes, but it's not on a site that is full of fanboys.

Until that poll came up >_>

I don't believe it for one bit.  If there is a poll of the 360's failrate the fanboys will flock to it.  Its as simple as that...

The same could be said about the survey they have held about the failurerate for the PS3 and the Wii, XBOX360 fanboys should have overflod those as well, going by your logic.

And please, please don't tell me the XBOX360 doesn't have fanboys!

Yes, but given the fact that there are FAR more PS3 fanboys on the internet. And most 360 fans are too busy playing games to bother with the plethora of PS3 fanboys fapping over a chance to troll the 360.
