Forums - Gaming - The HD consoles have failed me..

that probably indicates broken code in the firmware or the OS

I'm pretty sure I read once how to fix that - I'll go look it up ..

I'm prty sure you needed to have the firmware rdy on a usb stick (and in the correct folder)

edit: ok I got it

1.) dl the firmware on a usb stick and put it in PS3 / UPDATE  on that stick (create PS3 folder and in that folder the UPDATE folder)

2.) PS3 has to be in standby mode

3.) press the standby button until the PS3 goes into standby again (it has to start and go into standby again)

4.) press it again and wait until the PS3 beeps 2 times and quickly release the button

5.) now a menu with many options should open that lets you reinstall the firmware from the stick

I hope that can help you with your problem, but personally I never used/tried it, so I'm not sure whether or not it actually works.

Wow that blows. PS3 is supposed to be rock solid.

Really nintendo has always made the most reliable systems in the games though.

Hell they made a gameboy that survived a bombing or something.

Thanks for advice ppl, keep it comin! I'm willing to try anything at this point, without breaking warranty.

@gamelover
I'll try that later....wouldn't affect your warranty right?

@Lafiel
Cool man I'll look it up too....I was hoping that it would be something like that because my bro updated the firmware a couple days before, but it played fine for like a day or two before it crashed..

@Kasz216
Definitely agree with you there, never had a ninty console fail on me....but....a bombing??? that's amazing man

Sony & Microsoft better make sure there's no hardware problems in the next-gen consoles.

exchanging the hdd won't void your warranty

^ Cool scene.

Unlucky, though failures do happen to every console, it is just luck

I'm struggling to find any proper documentation to try to reload the latest firmware through USB....it only says so far that you need to copy it to the HDD first....but the system goes straight to that red screen....anybody knows the scene here?

I already posted a description how to load the firmware into the PS3 above (I edited it into my first post in the thread) - I hope it works.
