Go to 4-1 when you finish the 1-1

To get sliced by the Katana using Red Eye Knights? -_-

1-1 > 1-2 > 2-1 > 2-2 > 2-3 > what you want

There is no preset way of going through the levels?

uhhmm.. not really.

in the beginning, you HAVE to visit and finish 1-1.

and after this, you can go where you want. but of course, the general advice is to go as the numbers tells you,  and i recommend to do so til you are done with the entire world 2.

after this, its up to you. World 3 and 4 are almost equal in difficulty, World 3 is more focused to kill you by environment, and World 4 to Kill you by Enemy's.

The last world to Visit is World 5, because.. ehrm.. just take a look for yourself, if you want to know why :D

one tip from me:

If you die -> stay dead (Soul form).

because if you die living, the world tendency moves towards black, and the enemys become stronger.

If you die (online) in Soulform -> nothing happens.

(And if you made it through a bossfight, the tendency heads back to white.)

Nope. Everyone has their own personal preference on how to tackle each level.

And snuggle the girls be they short or tall,
Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,
To dance with Jak o' the Shadows."

I think you shouldn't start with Royal, as magic makes the game too easy. Better start off with a weapon based class for the full experience (of thrill and gratification)

a royal can prevent his death in 1-1 with soul arrow from time to time, but i wouldnt say the advantage he has at the beginning is THAT big.

(And the weapon he has at the beginning sucks :D)

Thanks for all your tips then, I'm leaving work now and will be heading home to try the game out ;)

Demon's Souls started out being the first Sony exclusive that I have regretted purchasing/playing. My first attempt at the game was as a barbarian, and let me tell you right now--that character class SUCKS. Don't use it. I could barely make it to the first fog in the first level using that guy.

So, I thought it was just me sucking at the game, but it turned out I just suck at using that class. I switched to soldier and now my character is kicking ass. I spent close to 15 hours grinding in Boletaria Palace and trying to collect all the souls over and over. (Big hint: do those first two Boletaria Palace levels first--if you beat the first two big demons, the world will become fully light on your map, and those dragons will disappear, allowing you to collect some awesome items.)

Once you get a good start on this game, you will become addicted to leveling up and upgrading your items. There are big payoffs when you get past big moments in the game. I am very glad I didn't trade it in. Dragon Age has gone completely neglected on my shelf because of Demon's Souls.

you grinded 15 hours in Boletarian palace? X_X.. dear lord.

The only time i grinded was after 4-3, for 30 minutes, in new Game+.

And the souls you get by killing Palace mobs are nothing compared to later.^^
