Forums - Nintendo - LittleBigPlanet bum dropped out of the picture!

Well I have a friend who when he saw NSMBW he said it was just a rip off of Little Big Planet's 4 player co-op. He talked strong about how Little Big Planet was challenging and a hardcore game while insulting NewSuperMarioBros. Untill I played the game even I thought that Little Big Planet would probubly be similiar in quality.

But today I picked up NewSuperMarioBros:Wii and I had that friend over and we decided to play through the game in co-op like we had little Big Planet. Well we are in World 3 right now and to be honest I have 12 continues and he has about 26. He kept complaining that I was killing him then I yelled at him for killing me. Sure I did alot better when he died but the game was still extremely difficult.

In the end we beat LittleBigPlanet in two days, if we some how super improve and play all day again tomorow we'll be lucky to finish it in the same two days. Of course tomorow I'm having two friends over so we'll be playing three player and the next day I plan to have 3 over and so fourth. So this confirms it.

As far as difficulty goes, LittleBigPlanet has just been crushed by NewSuperMarioBros:Wii!

Can't beat the father of platformer, Mario that is...no game can....

Currently Playing: Devil Survivor 2 (NDS)

Little Big Planet hardcore?

...lol. your friends not very smart.

LBP never tried to be hardcore. That being said, it offers more than any other platformer does.

Not saying which is better, just saying.

That depends if your talking DLC and user generated content or actual out of the box functionality?

Out of the box Little Big Planet is just a really pretty side scroller at best comparable to Mario. But Mario offers a far wider range of difficulty and plenty more in game content then LBP. Excluding all the clothes and stickers (Which really don't effect platforming at all)

LBP has very floaty physics... of course NSMB Wii is going to be tougher.

Unless you resort to oldschool NES "bad design" difficulty it'd be hard for the game to ever even be hard.

how does out of the box mario offer more than 4 player local, online co-op and an infinite amount of user generated content and the ability to create your own levels?

I admit, the platforming is different, it doesn't have the same nostalgia, and you know what? The level design in Mario is in most cases better, but in terms of what you are getting from a game, LBP Is a far superior product. There's a reason why It's a 95 on metacritic with many GOTY awards.

Except LBP's platforming physics suck.  You can offer all the user generted content in the world but if the underlying physics suck it's not really going to matter.

Floaty physics were more or less the definition of bad platformer up until.... LBP came out i guess.  I can't think of one game people said was good that had physics that floaty before.
