Forums - Microsoft - 1 Xbox Live Gold-Account on 2 Xbox 360s?

Hey guys,

is it possible to have 1 XBL Gold-Account on 2 Xbox 360s?

I just got my 2nd Xbox 360 (Modern Warfare 2 special edition) and I want to have my old Xbox 360 in my bedroom, so both are in use. I would like to play online on both consoles with my regular Xbox Live Account. Is this possible or do I need a 2nd Xbox Live Account?

Thanks!

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

i think you just need to use the recover gamertag feature when on a different console.

Your gamertag can only be active on one console at a time. recovering it, will activate it on that console. or...you might only need to recover the gamertag once...and then connect normally to xbl. only one can be online at a time though.

I think it is fine to use both consoles. The problem comes when you try to use 2 accounts on one console

I use one account on 2 360s in my house but you will either need to recover your gamertag when switching between the two or just swap the hard drives. If you are going to play campaigns and stuff like that you may want to do the latter because all of your progress will only be on whichever hard drive you were playing last. Recovering the gamertag won't transfer how far you've gotten in a game.

I also remember having to do one more thing when I first got my second 360 but I'm not sure what it was called. I had to go online and sort of "register" that console in order to get all of my DLC on there. It was a new Arcade and I was using a 60 GB HDD that I got from friend after he upgraded to a 120. I don't know if that had anything to do with the extra step I had to take but it was a simple 5 minute thing to do either way.

As far as what one poster said above about only having to recover your GT once, this is not the case. If you are going to be taking the recover route then you will have to do it every time. Unless someone here can give a good reason as to why you wouldn't want to, I think you may want to just detach the big ol 250 and slap it on your old 360 when you want to switch.

I LOVE paying for Xbox Live! I also love that my love for it pisses off so many people.

Recovering the gamertag for me takes a long ass time, I would recommend just swapping the hard drive. I thought about getting an Arcade just for this reason.

Depends on what you want to do. If you just want to log on with your Live account then you can do that on both. You will find that the console still contains the link to any purchased games though.

I can see no reason why you could for example install to hard drive the same game on both and play both games on either console. I guess you can only play online with 1 account at a time.

i just bought a 64mb memory card for 7 bucks used to carry my gamertag with me to other xbox's its easy and simple just put your gamer tag on the card then plug it in and you are good to go on any xbox.

i wouldnt do the harddrive thing that would pretty much make having 2 xboxes like having 1 and you just changing rooms with it also i doubt thats what you had in mind when you bought a 2nd one

Just buy a memory card.

This! Been doing it for 2 years with 3 xbox consoles now...

But make sure its atleast 512 megs. That way you can save your games on it too... so when you move the cars, so do the game saves.
