Forums - Sony - Anyone else think that FF13 has a bad release date?

I mean seriously, look at A Crack in Time. It would've gotten much better sales if it weren't going against U2 and MW2.

On the other hand, R&C is a title that will maybe profit more by holiday sales than others... at least I could imagine that. Concerning the FF13 release date... I expect that at least one of the three big ones will be delayed again anyway ;)

You don't think it wouldn've done better if U2 and MW2 weren't coming out at the same time? As for delays, I really hope GOW3 gets delayed, for its own sake.

It will totally get destroyed in Europe by GT5, but Americas should be close. I'm more worried about GOW3... I think they should shift into overdrive and try to release it in February. Or push it back to May if that doesn't work.

It was actually released at a pretty good time, and its sales seem just fine so far. It's a series with legs, it's never going to impress in the first couple of weeks. And if Sony had skipped releasing this in the holidays in fear of competition, they would also have to skip the Quarter 1 rush of games. And if they released it too late, people would have lost interest. Overall, the holiday frenzy was the best time to release it.

I was also worried about the fact that GOW 3 FF XIII and GT5 would be release on the same month. Each of them, in my opinion are hardware sellers, they should have release them in different months.

From a sales point of view I'd prefer holidays for FF13 to ensure its HUGE

from a gamers point of view, I'd like it out tomorrow if possible

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

GT5 is only confirmed for March in Japan, and GT (racing) games are not front-loaded anyway.

Now, God of War 3 really has a bad release date, so they should either delay it or release it in February. But then again, Crisis Core and Chains of Olympus came out during the same month in North America and neither had any problems selling.

GT5's release date isn't going to me March in the west. That's just for Japan. God of War and FFXIII in one month seems fine. The first Q of 2010 is packed though

@Ultima Europe doesn't have a release date for GT5 yet. It's only dated for March 10th in Japan. Yamauchi has said it's up to Sony when to release it in the west. In regards to GOW3 Personally I think it might get delayed to April. edit: Wow, double ninja'd.

Proudest Platinums:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Persona 4 Arena
3. Wipeout HD
4. Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2
5. Super Street Fighter 4

It definitely would have done better without U2 and MW2, but I think in the end, the pre-christmas release will be worth more than a release with less competition would have been. Of course, it's all speculation though ;)

I may be in the minority, but I couldn't care less about God of War and Gran Turismo (It's all about Heavy Rain!). A lot of Final Fantasy fans don't either. Each game will sell to their respective fan bases. It's really three totally different genre (genres?).
