It's releasing in March, along with GT5 and God of War 3. Three of the biggest ps3 games are releasing in the same month. I think that this is a horrible idea for Square Enix and Sony. Why would they want so much competition?
Thoughts?

GT5 and GOW3 have been comfirmed for march for a very long time. It's not for FF13 to hop on their month and steal their sales IMO.
It will totally get destroyed in Europe by GT5, but Americas should be close. I'm more worried about GOW3... I think they should shift into overdrive and try to release it in February. Or push it back to May if that doesn't work.
I mean seriously, look at A Crack in Time. It would've gotten much better sales if it weren't going against U2 and MW2.

FFXIII is a huge title. God of War III isn't that huge title. I don't think it will affect FFXIII sales. I think its great the game is being released first quarter of 2010.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY
GOW3 has a bad release date they can afford to delay it a week or 2 if GT5 gets delayed people will be pissed

On the other hand, R&C is a title that will maybe profit more by holiday sales than others... at least I could imagine that. Concerning the FF13 release date... I expect that at least one of the three big ones will be delayed again anyway ;)
gt5 release date in america and europe march 2010? i dont think so. i bet june or october..

It actually makes perfect sense.
Gran Turismo 5 will give the PS3 a huge boost in Europe.
God of War 3 will keep PS3 momentum in the Americas, which will allow for a big sales gap between the PS3 and 360 versions of FF13 in the region. Something Sony should count on if they want their platform to be the definitive Final Fantasy platform.
Plus, if the games do overlap each other too much, it just means that they'll sell over a longer period of time. People are itching for great games in the first couple of months anyways, and Sony would be foolish to not release big hits when the 360 is bringing games in Quarter 1 like Mass Effect 2, Alan Wake, and Splinter Cell: Conviction.
I'd imagine it's to sell more consoles, three good reasons to buy the console out the same month.
