I would say this is a disappointment on a personal level, but definitely won't stop me from getting the game

Hopefully they'll have the main theme (which is amazing imo) in the game somewhere :)

45? more like 24 if the Xbox360 version is the exact same and comes in 4 DVDs, if it comes in 3 then it's 18... So we have to see if that is not a limitation for putting the songs (it shouldn't, but we don't know yet)

Well, they've already said the 360 version will have differences from the PS3 version.  I heard one thing they were considering was putting Japanese voices into the PS3 version because of the added space, though I highly doubt they'll do that.  Especially after this move.

Wow, so many hate for a single change in Final Fantasy XIII. I can only imagine the type of threads that are going to pop up once the game arrives in March.

I don't know why there is so many hate going on for including this song. Tell me, was it Final Fantasy tradition to include a J-Pop song as it's theme? no, it started with FFVIII. Is this the first english song to be included as a main theme for a Final Fantasy game? No, FFXII had one as well. It seems people's memory is just too limited, or they want to complain about every little things, such is this generation MO.

If people can't enjoy a 60+ hours RPG game because of 4/5 minutes of song, then there is something very wrong with them.

Oh goodness. Uematsu has no part of this game.

Final Fantasy broke tradition many years ago by not hiring him for the score of FFXII.

Well, that's not entirely true outlawauron, it's true that the main composer was Hitoshi Sakimoto, but Uematsu did work alongside him to compose most of the score for the game.

Nobuo Uematsu has ALWAYS been the heart and soul of Final Fantasy.

He could dump more soul into a SNES soundchip than anybody.

I listened to that song in the OP, and then I listened to Terra's Theme from FF6 (link). Oh how the mighty have fallen...
