Kojima: Come out with Project S already!
So now they're going for an xbox 360 exclusive item for final fantasy XIII?
I don't know whats going on with square enix.
i dont care about hardly important shit.
I just acre about the main game.
How are you doing
Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!
Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st ![]()
I think PS3/360 sales will be like this for FF13
PS3
Japan (PS3 exclusive): 1.5 million (I'm going by Famitsu's forecast)
Americas: 1m - 1.6m
Europe/Others: 800k - 1.4m
Combined non-JP: 1.8m - 3m
Worldwide: 3.3m - 4.5m
X360
Americas: 750k - 1.3m
Europe/Others: 450k - 900k
Worldwide (excluding Japan): 1.2m - 2.2m
Multi-plat totals
Japan (PS3 exclusive): 1.5m
Americas: 1.86m - 2.74m (set min to FFXII figures, max to FFX figures)
Europe/Others: 1.4m - 2.19m (set min to FFXII figures, set max to FFX figures)
Worldwide: 4.76m - 6.43m
Note that my lows represent FFXII-like standards and my highs represent FFX-like standards. IMO, I think FFXIII will be somewhere in the middle between FFXII and FFX standards in terms of western sales. I don't think FFXIII is going to be as popular as FFX. Interest in jrpgs isn't what it used to be in the west and Oblivion (including multiplat sales) even beat FFX LTD in Americas. It's clear that wrpgs are taking over the rpg realm in Americas.
I'm using big ranges because there is a good deal of unpredictability in the west. Jrpgs are widely criticized and have been losing support in the west. Yet at the same time, this is Final Fantasy.
As for my personal thoughts on FF13, I don't understand the hype. Final Fantasy games are basically soap operas for Japanophiles. The gameplay better be worth it. Still, I'll give it a shot once it goes down to $30. I won't pay full price for dissapointment. A friend of mine is going to pre-order it but I'm not going to trust his assessment of the game because he's a Final Fantasy fanboy and thinks FF7 was the greatest thing ev4r. Whereas my feelings towards FF7 are similar to my feelings towards nu metal. It was cool THEN in the late 90s/early 21st century when I was young and didn't know any better, but not now.

Lost Odyssey did not do 1 million. Fable II is a western RPG. It will probably sell 4 million in the west but not all on 360. |
Square Enix does not care whether which console sell more copies but the actual combine sales for FFXIII. Considering 360 is the port, even if it sells only a million while PS3 sells 4 million, that still justifies their decision since ports aren't that costly compared to actual development. To put it simply, Square Enix is not going to put their faith in having 360 owners buying a PS3 for the sole purpose of FFXIII if it was still exclusive. Multi-platforms is just the safer bet in the end.

I'm not arguing against it being multiplat. I'm just saying it won't do 4 million on 360.
Hell, I doubt it will do 4 million on both consoles in the west.
