Of course it will be on the Wii (Or it's successor), but I still say SE will not put another important game on the Wii ever again. They have NOTHING coming out or announced besides DQX (save for FMA2 which prequel sold like 10k LT sales in Japan).

Their support has already shifted towards the HD consoles and they have already said that they are expecting a Wii HD to come out soon. I predict SE will not publish any important game on the Wii for the rest of the gen. Cheap anime games are not big.

Not if you take into account that the console getting their biggest IP has nothing else announced for it. And every other console has plenty of games coming up or recently released. I still smell a moneyhat.

SE hates the Wii, no matter how you try to slice it. It's the market leader and it's getting NOTHING. 2010 is an empty year from SE for the Wii, while a great year for the PS3 and PSP.

It's ridiculous if you think about it, the Wii hasn't seen anything big from SE yet, and it will have to wait until the end of the gen to receive a proper game. I always said SE hated the Wii, and it's true, otherwise they wouldn't have called it a toy and asked Nintendo for an HD machine as fast as possible.

FF:CC didn't do well, but i don't think they're worried about DQ, much bigger game that fits the userbase much better.

Am I missing something or is SE ditching consoles overall?

There's a difference between 'SquareEnix' and 'Yuji Horii'. Yuji Horii always makes his games for the system that is 'in the lead'. And that is the DS and Wii. Plus, eventhough a number of third party games have done poorly on the Wii, that has been due to bad marketing and support from their parent company. When a company actually puts forth the effort, they get positive results, such as the RE titles, Monster Hunter Tri, WiiSki, etc.

Dragon Quest X will be a success no matter how you look at it. Wherever they put it, the Japanese gamers will go. It probably won't sell as well as DQIX, but it'll still see those high million sales like its predecessors. And I'd be willing to bet it sells at least as well as DQVIII. Especially since it'll be coming out at near or the very end of the systems life cycle.

The trick is getting the international market interested in Dragon Quest. Something SquareEnix has been dropping the ball on over and over and over again with lackluster localizations and NO marketing. Nintendo is even having to come in and market the next title for them to help make Dragon Quest popular, even after they have had 8 years and 6 titles to do so on their own, talk about sad.

Indeed, SE could still announce a new Wii project, such as the rumored KH game connecting all the handheld games (don't think they won't) or something completely new (like Final Fantasy 752: Again Remix).

But on the whole, I agree that SE mostly tried to skip the Wii, and its understandable.  Especially with series like Final Fantasy, they tried to play to their greatest strength, Graphics.  And that was on the HD consoles.
