Forums - PC - MW2 pc crash

I was wondering if any of you know how I fix this.
I bought MW2 on the release date, Playing it yesterday for the first time it decided to crash on me every 5 minutes. And not just a normal crash, it turns of my pc. First things are figured was my BIOS shutting of my pc for overheating, but that's insane with the amount of cooling I have.

Here are the things that are not the issue:

-My drivers are updated
-1000w power supply
- Ati radeon HD 4580 plus extra cooling on it.
-Reinstalled punkbuster (as a quick google search suggested)
-Turned of steam community ingame (^)
- It's not an overheating issue
- My pc runs other games just fine, like Bioshock, mass effect, etc.
- reinstalled the game

I have:

Intel Core 2duo CPU E 8400 @ 3.00 GHZ
4 GIG RAM
ATI RADEON HD 4850
etc.... the game should run fine.

This pretty frustrating, if anyone has ideas: please share.

Have you tried playing the game with all the effects turned off (AA, AF, low quality everything)? If it runs fine after that then its probably a graphics problem that AMD/ATI will probably have fixed in the next driver update. Until then you can turn on/off each effect until you find the one causing the problem.

Other than that I'm not sure what else you could try. Is it in both SP and MP?

Yea I tried to do that, it failed :(

It's in both SP and MP.

Could it be a bad copy? or is that crazy talk?

I don't think its a bad copy as its all digital. I'm as stumped as you at this point. The only thing I can think of is to contact IW/Activision's troubleshooting and go through any FAQs they might have.

Thanks for the effort :)

I will go through all the troubleshooting faqs I can find tommorow, right now I need a break or i'm going to trow my pc out of the window.

If anyone else has any ideas, please post.

Turn firewall and antivirus intrusivity to their lowest settings, the most common issue are alert messages that in Avast, for example can be set to be disabled when full screen apps are running with a "game mode" setting (it doesn't turn the antivirus off, protection is still running), for Zone Alarm there is a game mode too (but let's say it, Zone Alarm is quite crappy anyway), Comodo never gave me problems, so I guess this mode is set by default and I guess most antiviruses and firewalls offer this feature.

I'll try it, but if it is an issue, why hasn't it caused a problem for all my other online games? Like MW and WaW?
(I have a monthly updated firewall/virus protection package from my internet providor)

Thanks for trying to help me!

because the game is not balanced for problems, thus you cannot solve them

+1 for you!

It's going to take a while before I catch my breath from that one.
