Forums - Gaming - EEPROM, why hast thou betrayed me?

So I started up Advance Wars the other day to continue playing it (I think I was at least halfway through but I really have no idea) and it asks me for my name. WTF? OK, I put in my name, and sure enough, it asks me to go into training. Shit.

OK, something is really wrong. Maybe my DS doesn't like the game anymore? So I pop it into the ol' GBA. Same thing. When I do a training op and save and exit, the next time I turn the game on that's been forgotten too.

Is there a tiny battery I can replace in the cartridge? Is there anything I can do other than buy another copy?  [edit:  and other than playing straight through in some kind pf psycho-obsessive marathon!]

(P.S. I had been playing it regularly up to this point (more than once a week and usually every day or every other day), so it's not like I let it sit somewhere for years.)

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

I have the most epic death scene ever in VGChartz Mafia.  Thanks WordsofWisdom!

Only developer carts have EEPROM, outside of homemade carts.

Its my understanding that the GBA uses flash memory for saves. So, what must have happened is it got jacked up by an electrical shock, so essentially your screwed. Although I may be wrong and it could be using sram, in which case replacing the battery would save you.
