No he's plenty intimidating

I could do the same with the One Winged Angel, but i wasn't talking about "Final Forms" i was talking about regular work more exact the pic twes posted...
i mean hes almost a colored dot. if it wasn't for the epic very Final Fantasy VII like storyline i would have stop'd playing it because of the art-style AND the graphics, so all the pretty boys came into final fantasy after VII huh? everyone in VI (there art-work) looked fugly imo.

I tried my hardest not to explode about this comment and your comments a little below about Amano but fuck it, I can't help it. I had a nice post just about written up but then I accidently closed the window. XD
How the fuck can you say FFVI's pixels don't convey emotion? I'll give you three golden examples of stuff all done with sprites that is more emotive than most things released today, including any recent FF and FFVII:
- The Opera House -- one of those themes will stick with everyone that has ever played the game and just one of the most beautiful moments in gaming ever. I still get goosebumps just thinking about the theme and the midi version of the aria still shows up on every one of my play lists.
- The Phantom Train -- If the opera house showed that games can be beautiful, the phantom train showed that games can be just heart wrenching sad. The part where Cyan's family departs is one of the saddest moments in gaming and anyone who doesn't tear up a little does not have a soul.
- The Solitary Island -- this scene is just overflowing with emotion. The music, the staging, every fucking piece is brilliant. This is one of if not the best moments in gaming.
I just can't understand how you think 16-bit sprites can't show emotion when you have those three examples. Those three examples alone do so much more with some 200 pixels than any game today does with their 1080p's.
And you dare insult Amano's work!? And to prove it you only post a picture of Gau!? This is even more upsetting than your above comment about saying the game is fugly!
Just a few examples of Amano's beautiful work:

And my favorite picture of his:

The stuff he does with colors and lines and composition is just amazing.
