of course getting slim it's a better idea since it newer and better and problems havent suffice yet.

No mines the 40gb I'm looking at how much the other faulty 40gb ps3s are selling for on Ebay, its not looking too good so far.

i had the exact same problem (with a 40gig model). all i had to do was to clean the lens with a common window cleaner and qtips (just watch on youtube how to open it). Works now like brand new.

I am lucky man i have never had a PS3 go tits up on me. But i treat the, like they are gold dust and keep it seriously ventilated and away from the ground

I honestly think this is karma as when i was in the que for modern warfare 2 in sainsburys a lad ran past me so i pushed him into the vegetables lol, id been waiting an hour, no way was i letting a que jumper in lol

it looks like 40gb and early 80gb without BC have some lens problems.
the problem went unnoticed until the second wave of 80gb. there should be a few.

but yeah paying for the slim sounds like a better idea, but it's easy to fix.
