Forums - Nintendo - Dynamic Slash returns with 4 player online co-op. Feb 11 Japan releasedate

@Soriku: Those are established franchises from big developers and that have a lot of hype behind. This game is an over the should hack'n'slash game which is rated M. This game will bomb if released in the USA. It will bomb in Japan where it has the biggest potential.

@Soriku: Now that I researched, GoW and DMC are nothing like the games Sandlot makes. The games that they make are more similar to Dinasty Warriors, Devil Kings or the like, which aren't even remotely popular in the USA.

Plus Sandlot is a really small, niche developer. They have only amde 1 game this gen, this is their second one.

Read my post above, their games are nothing like DMC or GoW. Plus they are even niche in Japan, where they don't sell a lot.

Because Sandlot is known for making games like that, and what we saw so far points out in that direction.

Being over the shoulder or not matters little. The game puts you up against hundreds of enemies on an open field just like SW or DW, unlike DMC or GoW which are more linear levels with less enemies and a bit of exploration.

Nintendo needs software (in Japan for a big part). So if they are going to publish this, then they probably told Sandlot to make something good of even great. Or maybe even help them with development.

Certainly Nintendo has no need for a bad game.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

@stefan: Apparently, many of those games are bad enough for NoA not wanting to publish them in the USA. S&P2 is a very good game, but it has bombed badly. Quality matter very little. FFCC:CB bombed, Super Robot Wars bombed, SD Gundam bombed, Disaster bombed, Trace Memory bombed, Takt of Magic bombed, Bleach vs Crusade bombed, Fragile bombed, ARF and Muramasa underperformed. Japanese gamers actually care little if the game is good or not, the Wii is dying there, no SW is being bought at all save for the rare big 1st party game or big franchises.

This game will be no different. Nintendo has published a game by Sandlot on the DS too, and it didn't sell well. Doesn't matter who publishes it.

@Soriku: This game will feature tons of enemies rushing towards you on a big battlefield. Will feature hundreds of weapons to kill enemies in different ways. They will not be linear levels with places to explore like in DMC. They will be open stage missions like EDF was. But instead of featuring fire arms, will feature weapons like swords, axes, etc. Sandlot has never made a level based game or an adventure game. Plus this features online coop, which will only fit in a game like this, where hundreds of enemies rush towards you, so you have to work in a team.

Sengoku Basara 3 will for example feature online play (Only for the PS3 though) and it's a similar game.

Soriku, wanna make a bet? I say that the game will not sell more than 100k LT in Japan, that it won't be released in the USA and that it will be a game in the vein of Samurai/Dinasty Warriors.
