How can we explain this...well I'll give you reasons of why the game sold so well!
It sold amazingly well on 360 because: -There wern't any really good shooters this year -Other games got pushed back because of this so people have more money to spend (ex splinter cell, alan wake etc) -Call of duty 4 was a amazing game (single and online player) -it has timed exclusive dlc on 360 -the wal mart deal made a lot of 360 buyers get MW2 as their first game
It sold amazingly well of ps3 because: -the slim + pricecut came out boosting sales dramaticaly -Call of duty 4 was an amazing game -not that many big games came out this year. (you can say uncharted 2 and killzone 2 all you want but it doesnt have the sales to take away sales from MW2) -and the fact that there is free online for ps3 might have tilted sales in sony's direction
it actually sold a lot better first week on PC than COD4 did, so I guess we will see if it manages to outsell it lifetime... And don't let me forget this game had halo-like advertizing and hype :)
I predict that lifetime the sales will look like this
360-12 million PS3-6.5 million PC-2.5 million
i also think this is the peak of the franchise much like guitar hero 3 was for guitar hero...discuss! *as i go play MW2*

may not have taken away the sales but they certianly stole the hype(Uncharted 2 mostly). Yea MW2 is nothing special ridiculously overrated thank god i only spent $20 on it. Uncharted 2 is GOTY
