No DQ has a really good story, no DQ is compareable to any FF, and no FF is compareable to games with REALLY good story (Xenogears, PS:T, MGS4 etc)

It's too complex to explain, but it basically revolves around the life story of The Hero, since he was a child until it's last days, while looking for the legendary hero to defeat the Evil Lord Mada, which is always thought to be The Hero, but it's actually his son as The Hero is the descendant of the Dragon Clan, and the legendary hero can only be born when Dragon and Human meet.

It's not required for you to play DQIV, you'll understand the story of V pretty well by itself, you won't only know about the father of The Hero.

Yeah, the whole Dragovian setting of DQVIII is heavily inspired in DQ5, but trust me, once you play V, you'll see that VIII's story was a bit too shallow ;) Loved Dhoulmagus though xD

I don't believe it will, although I am excited for it, but nothing will ever beat FFVII in my book

It will be amazing. Probably the best RPG of this generation. I even have a bet about that. But I doubt any game will ever be able to surpass FFVII. Maybe if they re-made FFVII.

Western RPGs have stole the thunder this generation in the RPG front. All the top ones are western, as far as discussion and sales go. Ok, I will give a nod to VC, but that is more of a strategic-tactical RPG then a pure JRPG.

Off topic but the RE2 cart on N64 was 512 megabits or 64MB. FFVII would have fit on that cartridge. Angel Studios wanted to port FFVII to N64 but Square Enix turned them down then they approached Capcom about RE2 and the rest is history.
