Forums - Gaming - Nintendo admits 'dark' future if it can't differentiate from iPhone

Check the source of the article. Appleinsider has been proclaiming DS doom for over a year now, with no proof nor factual basis. Devs aren't taking the iphone serious as a viable platform, only casual companies like PopCap make any profit off it. Too many basement iphone app devs have flooded the iphone gaming market, making it hard to find a gem in a sea of crap.

besides the piracy on the ipod is even higher than the psp so maybe it will eventually make it a less attractive platform to develop for.. who knows time will tell.
but i think it's indeed a more dangerous competitor than the psp, its like a trojan horse it invades slowly without notice and can
surprise one day.
what holds it from exploding in gaming market is the lack of physical controller but this is smth that can change in the future.
although i dont think its a direct threat for nintendo (loyal fanbase/younger users) it can hurt the psp a lot and in a way it already does..
anyway some good games for the iphone are indeed all you need to carry around u for a quick gaming fix.
i have psp/ds/iphone and i find myself playing more and more with the iphone than the others because is smth that you carry with u all the time anyway. for a full featured game you play in your console/computery there is no need for it in a portable device.

iPhone sucks for gaming, how is it a threat at all to the DS?

I hesitate to respond to that, because of how many people say the same thing about the Wii. Granted, Wii and PS360 are closer than DS and iPhone

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

again it isn't.

if not they should be more scare of nokia and blackberry.

nokia alone sells over 100 millions smartphones.

Nokia everyday sells less and less while apple is on a non-stopping rise the last 2 years how can a company in decline hurt them? impossible

not true actually nokia sold 6% more last quarter. nokia alone holds over 40% of the smartphone marketshare.

while nokia it's not popular in america, they have total europe and asia domination.

while the iphone may due well for a single phone they never going to get such strong market presence as nokia does.

you forget to add the ipod sales as well and that the apple devices are more gaming centered than the nokia offerings.
even the cheap N series are considered smartphones when they can't compete with the ipod/iphone
you should compare the sales of nokia flagships models like the N97 or smth similar

So why is he worried? Apple are arrogant.

O'boy another Nintendo is doomed thread.. I say it again and again and again and again. Even when people purchase those new fancy i-thingies and ps-dohikkies.  They look for Apps and even mod thier systems to play or download "NINTENDO" games.  Its sad but I see it all the time a "Mario" game being played on an i-doddle and on ps-majigs.  Nintendo has nothing to fear from those machines.  Just purchase a DS and its multi million selling great titles and save those other machines for phone calls and maybe watching videos....  Enjoy.

I can understand the sentiment against another "Wii is doomed" thread...but these are words straight from the horses mouth, not from some two-bit analyst

Nintendo may wax and wane in the home console market but they will reign the hand-held gaming market for as long as there is a hand-held gaming devices market to reign over.

Oops, with my luck at predictions I may have spelled their doom. But in this case I doubt I have.
