I just don't understand why Microsoft wouldn't announce more games at E3, or at TGS. All they showed at E3 was Milo, a mini-game, a pointless 'painting' app, and a CGI concept video. If they had more games ready to release Nov 2010, why not show them?

Maybe they want the games further along before they show them.

No point discussing things with a guy who harpoons his own arguments.  We've seen even less of games for Sony's wand which is due in Spring, why haven't we seen all the games they plan on releasing at launch yet would be my question to his biased logic.

If it launches with just 1 must have game at this price then it will be huge and 5 million might not be enough without a steady supply into xmas.  I will be predordering mine as soon as possible as this has all the hallmarks of the Wii launch to me.

I think Sony's dildo wand is also BS. The lack of games is even more disconcerting there.

@Slimebeast: The way i see it, released separately, Natal and 720 would launch too close to each other. I already said last summer, that Natal looks like 32X if they are still going to put it out before 720. The lack of M$ hyping Natal should be indicative. Either it's not coming out or they plan to put it on their next console. Of course, there's a third option of them not knowing what to do with it and that it's not anywhere near ready. I would be very surprised if M$ didn't see the upcoming fail Natal has.
The whole Natal seemed to be just something quickly put together out of the tech the israeli company that developed the whole peripheral for PC, had.

Anyway, announcing a new console at the same time Sony releases its Wand, would be effective to cut out Sonys momentum from the peripheral and being the first one out to a new console race would bring advantage to M$.

@Naum: It's M$ type of leak, ie, intentionally put out.

I think your being rather wrong and mis-informed about NATAL and the media behind it.

  1. You assume you know when 720 is coming out. You do not know. No one does. It's a false assumption to believe NATAL is a stop-gap between waining sales and a 720. If anything, it is Microsoft's Wii in the way of new emergent gameplay features without costly hardware. For all we know, NATAL could be fully integrated with a 720 ensuring it's lineage.
  2. How do you believe that Microsoft is *not* hyping NATAL? Do you know it's a year away? Do you know that marketing usually doesn't start that early? I mean, its recieved a large amount of press despite it being so far away. It was 6-9 months before anyone really cared about the Wii, so I fail to see why you, or anyone should be concerned when we aren't even in the year of the projected launch of the product.
  3. NATAL has been in development prior to Microsoft acquiring 3DV. I assume 3DV has helped with the project immensely, but they did not spearhead the entirety of nATAL development.

Somehow, I think your one of those kinds of people that preached that Microsoft would launch an entirely new console in 2009 or 2010 a few years back.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

Natal acutally came out of M$ R&D lab, which is one of the best funded in the industry for basic research...

Natal is more than just the motion tracking...keep believing that eyepet is the same as Natal.

"Outsiders on Wall Street and in Silicon Valley gripe that Microsoft has little to show for its patience, but Rashid says Microsoft Research (MSR) has made important contributions to new products. Natal, a gaming system launched in June, is based on work from the research unit's Cambridge, England, lab."

What M$ not hyping NATAL. Are you serious? They have hyped it through the roof. Look at the hype generated off of E3. That has carried them right through. The best thing M$ can do will be to trickle it out now, till at least half of those games are ready to show. Maybe GDC but I reckon another HUGE E3 again on Natal, and the media will be even worse than the 6'oclock news showings and early morning tv shows it got after E309. E310 will be Natal's E3. I predict Natal will be a MASSIVE sucess. Huge sales for 360 next chistmas. And I will say right here and now M$ will outsell the Wii next November and December comfortably.

It's really dumb to think about 720 when Wii is still outselling X360 with it's inferior hardware. This is probably why Sony and Microsoft is focus on motion controls instead of wasting more money on a new system. As both PS3 and 360 start to age I can see them finding new ways to continue hardware sales.

I really hope Natal is a huge success.
