I can't believe how small the Wii share is. Sony's brand recognition is strong in Russia when it comes to electronics.

Why can't you belive this ?

1. Consoles in East Europe started with PS1 if we are speaking about adoption higher than few thousand pieces so people don't remember NES or SNES

2. Nintendo doesn't care and doesn't have  subsidiaries here instead selling by distributors

So it shows how "well" Wii can sell when depending only on strength of  it's library and word of mouth

1. We in Russia had a hardware clone of NES, "Dendy", before PS1. It was extremely popular, I'd guess it  has sold in the millions.

Today, I think, PC games are far more popular here than  home console ones.

I can't believe it, too!  Maybe it's a case of "lies, damned lies and statistics".

Here is another chart from december 2008.

http://web.json.ru/files/news/CG_market_Release_Rus.pdf (in Russian)

It's unclear if the chart is about hardware sales. The name is "Console vs. PC Games and Multimedia, Russia 2008", but PC part isn't there.

PSP is more popular in Russia than DS, but 26% vs 1% ?!

I can say for myself that approximately 20% of my  friends( all of them in the mid to late 20s, live in Moscow) bought a Wii after seeing one at my house( I blame WiiFit!). 0% bought a PS3 after seeing it at my house.  Not enough data, but still...

Russians like killzone? Big surprise there
