A soundtrack is very important to a game, specifically RPGs, they set the atmosphere.

For me my favorites are...
1. Xenogears
2. Chrono Trigger
3. Castlevania: SOTN
4. Final Fantasy VIII
5. Terranigma

they are as important as gameplay for me ... check out the phantasy star online 3 soundtrack .... best soundtrack ever for me

4 - Shadow of the Colossus
5- Chrono Trigger
6 - Kirby Superstar
7 - Super Metroid
8 - Final Fantasy VIII
9 - Mass Effect
10 - Castlevania: Symphony of the Night

Almost all RPGs and JRPGs have been made much more enjoyable (to me) by the soundtracks. I know it is a PC game and many have never played it, but the music from EQ1 is something I will never forget and hearing it actually triggers an emotional response for me. In EQ2 they made music boxes with original EQ music that was pretty incredible.

Anyway, yes I love the game soundtracks for probably 70% of the games I love to play. Some games it doesn't matter but most the types I do it makes the game that much better.
