Wii could become the best selling consoles of all time in no time if it was $99.

I just don't understand why people boast about PS3 sales when Sony is taking such big losses.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue doesn't exist? I believe it was even bundled in Japan.

Final Fantasy XIII will only be exclusive in Japan. Square can't rely on Sony alone this time.

Aren't we talking about Japan? FFXIII is exclusive in Japan and that's the only thing that should matter, no?

And Prologue probably indeed sold some PS3s but I'm sure a lot of people waited for the full game.

Sure its exclusive in Japan, but Square is probably hoping for strong sales in NA and Others due to how poor the HD consoles are doing in Japan.

GT5P definitely sold some consoles. Full game or not it had an impact.

Why are you mixing sales and profits?

Sony is doing what they think is the best and if they are ready to lose money with the PS3 now, it means they think it will benefit them in the future in some way.

Why are you mixing sales and profits?

Sony is doing what they think is the best and if they are ready to lose money with the PS3 now, it means they think it will benefit them in the future in some way.

Well profits are the reason consoles exist. For some reason Sony feels its important to get the PS3 in as many homes as possible by taking huge losses.

It was brought up that the PS3 is going to be the 6th best selling console of all time in Japan. We should take into consideration other consoles could reach the same feat if they were willing to take huge losses.

nothing to do with install base and financials because the PS3 makes more money then the 360 on software for many multiplat games because they sell better in EU on the PS3. And the EU has a better exchange rate then the US.

Good point. Sony deserves our praise because they have tons of money to piss away.

For the record, In my eyes the Gamecube was a far bigger success than the original Xbox.

So this thread has turned into:

Sony fans should not be boasting about PS3 sales because they are taking huge losses. If other consoles were taking as much loss, they would have sold crazy numbers.
