People still talking about PS2? It's 2009 now and the 360 is faltering. Who cares about PS3 compared to PS2? So the PS2 dominated the Xbox and gamecube those systems don't even exist anymore and the PS2 is an afterthought. Do we still talk about how Nintendo beat Sega in the 80's? How Sony beat Nintendo in the 90s? No because it's not relevant just like it's not relevant to talk about PS3 numbers from 2006 because here in 2009, almost 2010 the 360 is the console in flopping and is being outsold by the PS3 handily and reminiscing about the glory days from 3-4 years ago isn't going to change that fact.
^^^
Seriously, some people have short memories, the PS3 had been flopping until just recently. If we took your example as fact the ps3 would have never made a small come back like it has.

I think this website should be renamed Playstationchartz.com. I find it hilarious that sony fanboys think Microsoft is panicking because of the sales Sony is finally seeing from the Slim. Well I hate to break the news to you but the lead is still 6.7 million consoles in favor of the 360. From how you sony fanboys act you would think this is last gen when Sony dominated. Microsoft is not panicking and is actually enjoying making a profit on the 360 at the moment. Next year is the year Microsoft will make some big moves with huge software titles and of course Natal. If after 2010 the 360 gap is greatly reduced and Natal and the big games haven't helped to stop the gain by Sony then you can make comments as the op has. Until then 360 still owns Sony in this gen.

This. Theres no proof right now that MS is losing money on the 360 based on the last few quarters. Depending on how much Natal costs them, and if a $100 Arcade would really generate a loss (Maybe MS worked out a deal with Wal-Mart or Amazon to minimize losses on the $100 gift card part). If MS continues to profit the way they have done the last two years they will actually begin to profit on the 360 as a company whole by late 2010 / early to middle 2011. If they can afford to make the arcade $100 without any losses (remember they make money on every new 360 game sold, overpriced accessories and the sale of Live and Live marketplace products) then it would be a smart move by MS to make the arcade $100.
Oh and what I mean by overall profit on the 360 is MS eliminates the cost of RROD and the first two years of loss overall by constant profit. They still have a billion or so to go I believe. But the last quarter they made 400+million so they only have a few quarters left to go in that case.
It's just that simple.

Maybe it's you who have the short memory if you aready forgot that the 360 is a full year older then the PS3 damnedloser.
In its third year on the market the PS3 is 4-5 million units ahead of where the 360 was. Again 1.5 million ahead of the 360 for 2009. Bottom line is the 360 has NO CHANCE of outselling the PS3 when they are selling at a comperable price point. There's nothing they can do to change this, not a Halo game not $50 rebates, not a sku shift, NOTHING.
Until the arcade gets another price drop the possibility of the 360 outselling the PS3 is slim to none.
