Forums - Sony - Is the PSP dying?

I feel like weak software sales outside Japan will eventually force third parties and even Sony itself to stop supporting the platform.. not yet completely of course, but I feel that it'll lessen to the point that the PS2 has now, until eventually it totally ends. I don't see any more big bullets (EDIT: possibly MGS: Peace Walker) coming any time soon that'll re-ignite PSP popularity to a level that it can still compete.

I'll wait for the first "I blame piracy" post.

I feel the same. The PSP is a great handheld but software sales are completely dead and PSP sales are very bad for a cheap handheld.

Even big games like Gran Turismo can't sell well.

Well it's a very well known fact that piracy has ravaged software sales on the system. So why would you say i'l wait for the first "i blame piracy post"?. Are you a troll?.

All current systems other than the PS3 have piracy issues. The PC and DS likely suffer the most.

I blame piracy.

Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

people said the ps3 was dying when it first came out, give the psp go a chance

it selling decent, older 360 but selling better.
software wise piracy it's big. but gotten better.

I'd say it's dying, yes. The PSP Go seemed like Sony's last chance to bring some more life to the platform, so unless DD sales really have taken off, then I doubt the PSP will see a great deal of support in the future. Of course, I happen to believe the rumor that Sony will put out the PSP2 some time next year. I'm just hoping that it's BC with the PSP, though I doubt it. Even so, it should hopefully mean that the PSP gets its price slashed.
