i trust sony. why? i have been very unlucky with a lot of technology. it either breaks, doesnt do what it was intended to or doesnt live up to what it was intended to do. i have never had this problem with a product from sony and the ps3 is starting to do everything they told us it would do. they always appear to offer the best technology that is normally worth its money but to costly for me. for example i want the satio from sony ericson. for the technology thats in it, it is good value but i cant afford it at the moment, same as when the ps3 was released.
yeah i have skipped a couple of pages so yeah lazy but im going to say anyway.
the ps3 failure rate isnt exactly that high its just been attacked lately as a result of the bbc watchdog's unfair and bias report. as for the firmware sony dont normally make them mistakes and if it is there fault yeah they should be replacing it no questions asked.
oh and as for the bit about making money sony have run up a $6.5 billion debt sense realeasing the ps3. to me they are more about inovation than making money

I don't mean to call you out, but Sony is known for firmware updates that cause a lot of problems. It just isn't normal for the FW update to brick the console.
The firmware bricking isn't wide spread, but just imagine if you were one of these poor bastards that had the misfortune. Would you not be very upset? Or would you say ahh shucks, no biggie and then go buy another system? I know I would be ready to go smash something.

Sony is known for Firmware updates that cause a lot of problems? Since when? Has there ever been actual proof that an update caused problems? Or, far more likely, did a handful of people have problems that would have happened anyway that just so happened to occur right after they did a firmware update?
If Microsoft had more firmware updates, I guarantee we would have heard about this all the time...that their firmware updates caused RROD, just because RROD happened so frequently and the law of averages.
