Forums - Gaming - I can't bring myself to trust Sony anymore

Now I know someone who's reading this is going to say 'well what about RRoD?'. Last I checked, M$ fessed up to that, and has poured LOTS of money into remeding the situation.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

TL;DR

Wow... lots of talk, yet no one seems to want to answer the question.

Can you truly trust any company? Don't forget corporations are legal entities, whose sole responsibilitiy are to their shareholders/owners to make money. So can you truly trust any company? I think not.

All you can really go by is customer service. Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony are all sometimes hit or miss when it comes to customer service. Maybe Nintendo has a little more positive news regarding positive customer service, but will it always be that way?

When it comes to credibility... I don't really trust any of them, all I want them to do is make me money (Shareholder).

I game.  You game.  We game.

I'm a videogamer, not a fanboy, but have a special place for Nintendo.

Current Systems Owned: NSwitch/PS4/XONE/WiiU/3DS/2DS/PCGaming Rig-i7/ASUS i7 Gaming Laptop.

Previous Game Consoles:  PS3/Xbox360/Wii/DSL/Pretty much every one thats been released since the Atari 2600.

As a lot of people are fixating on the updates I think it is fair to say that both systems appear to get increased failures during some updates. Sony put more out when compared to Microsoft, and both it would be far to say have had some degree of problems related to failures not always broken units.

All I know is this:

My 360 starting freezing up on me. I called support and they told me I had to send it in. However, I had to pay 100 dollars, because although MS "fessed up" to RROD, it didn't cover other issues, which this was. Then, i never got my box to send it in. Called back a week later, they said they would send it. STILL never got it. Called a 3rd time, talked to a manager who apologized, and finally got my box. It got repaired and returned (for 100 bucks).

My PS3 got the YLOD. It was no longer under warrenty. However, when I called in, the lady said they had extended it for launch consoles, and it would be covered. I sent it in and it got repaired and sent back to me for free.

So from my personal experience, Sony is far more Customer Service reliable than MS. However, I realize this is one incident out of millions. Maybe you should realize the same.

the whole point with BC is that ps2 is the best console of all time...
why should you get it for free simply by buying a ps3, when you can simply buy a ps2 slim for less than 80$ now?

The point is that the ps2 will continue to sell, and it sells quite a bit every month. If ps2 BC were on the ps3, Sony would be in dire straits financially. They would have to bend over backwards to give customers for free, something which should be 80$.
Sure 360 has BC, but does 360 have ps2 BC? Actually it probably does, if you hacked your console.

Are you serious? That's like trying to justify Microsoft's overcharging on harddrives. Every system should be backwards compatible. Especially, if you know, it has been backwards compatible for awhile, I don't see any justification for taking that feature out.

please, MS hard drives are easily twice the price of a ps2, and do not offer the same experience of the ps2.

Why don't you respond to the rest of my post before I just write the same thing again. Don't expect a company to cannibalize itself when it doesn't have to.

Face it, sony is still losing money on ps3s. If there was bc on the ps3, not only would they nearly kill the ps2s sales, but they would lose more money on ps3s when they are already poised to make a huge comeback while reinforced by the most purchased system of all time.

Perception is just as important as reality in making judgements.

Out of this entire thread, I just had to point out the stupidest statement I've ever heard. Making judgements based off of perception is something a total idiot does, because you lack the facts and therefore lack the ability to come to a logical conclusion.
