As a pc gamer, I can say that modern warfare 2 is a disgrace to pc games. It makes Call of Duty 4 look leagues ahead of it, and I'm very disappointed in Infinity Ward.

While I don't really agree with a lot of the comments on the PC version the perception in the PC community is this game is not what they were looking for.
On the other hand this game is going to explode on consoles especially in NA.

Console owners are used to getting the shaft. They expect it. They are also looking for a simplified experience more than PC gamers are (they tend to run from advanced settings, etc.).

I blame Madden.
We're already seeing an annual Call of Duty. Pretty soon they'll just start giving them years instead of names/numbers. "Call of Duty: 2010... like Call of Duty: 2009 but with a new player roster"

People probably realize that it is pointless to pre-order a digitally distributed game. |
Not true.
You get $5 bucks off usually... also you get to Pre-load the game.
So that when the game releases it takes all of 5 minutes to start your game rather then 5-6 hours downloading.
Big games on Steam usually top the charts weeks before release.

As for the actual topic....
too bad... mostly because Steam is the only DRM that isn't really that bad. Unlike stuff like Starforce which ruins your CD drives.
Lets be honest. They don't give a shit about DRMs. Some games they allow download wise have DRMs. They're just afraid of the competition.
If Activision buckles and replaces Steamworks with another DRM... it's going to be more damaging to the customer.

Although I do wonder if Valve would lose a lawsuit if someone took this to court.
Reminds me of that Windows + IE lawsuit.
Which... Microsoft lost... yet IE still comes with Windows. Which is weird. But also kinda needed anyway. How else could you download other browsers?

I personally feel shafted because of steam. I hate the "service" in and on itself. Mainly because it's damn slow.
I got the PC version today. I enjoyed the single and multi of 4, this was more of the same... why not?! I completely forgot about the mandatory steam aspect.
When I got home my internet wasn't working. No problem I thought, I want a romp through the single player first anyway. Well, tough luck champ because the disc needs to be linked with your steam account, which I thankfully already had due to the orange box.
This night my internet was finally working so I loaded up my steam account and installed the game.
Halfway through I got an error: The servers are to busy to handle your requests...
Serieusly valve... the Fuck?!
Apparantly I can still play. When restarting the download (yes, I'm determined) I saw that "play" was an option. Hurrah! I clicked... and steam started to open. It took me a few minutes in which the game did not start before I could get the steam program open..
And now it's updating my game. Which is ready to play in 2 hours and ten fucking minutes.
I'm not running the best connection here, or a high end PC but CoD4 was a simple installation and at least I could get into the action immidiatly. This just sucks balls and I'm highly contemplating returning my copy.
