Forums - Microsoft - Do you think we will see a Halo 1/2/3 combo pack any time soon?

Halo: Some textures go white and the demos option in the main menu is gone. Significant slowdowns in co-op.

Halo 2: Noticeably lower frame rate in four player split-screen. Content Downloader for getting new map packs doesn't work in 60Hz along with the upgrader. Occasionally, 'ghost' images stay on screen unless console is reset, usually after a cutscene. Note: Upgrades now run through Xbox 360 system instead of Xbox upgrade system, so will work in PAL60 now. Dolby Digital sound cuts out when playing across system link.

Me: No thanks.

Wouldn't that be kind of hard since the Xbox 360 can't play Halo and Halo 2 without some very serious issues?

You would have thought that Microsoft would have prioritised making these two backwards compatible as they are the most popuar Xbox games. If they did a pack in, then they would certainly upgrade these games so that they are 360 games. Bungie would probably give them HD graphics, and maybe fiddle with them a bit

Maybe you should do just a touch of research before you post in the microsoft forum and technical functions of the device.  You look really silly when you say something so clueless.

I only played the single player campaign so I can't comment on those but I didn't notice any of the ghost images after a cutscenes.  I use a play link.  It works fine.  Notes on "inconsistencies" with backward compatibility can be found on the official xbox website.  I don't think I'd go with Wikipedia's description as the most current as Microsoft releases fairly regular upgrades to different BC patches and they aren't always announced when it is just for a specific game.  It's nice to know mods on VGC take pleasure in trolling as well.  My thread didn't ask for this input.  You just poured gas on the fire started by munkey's obvious troll post.

No kn. You asked if they would do it. I said I didn't think so because the games don't run well on the 360. Munkeh was trolling the quality of Halo 3. I have no complaints about Halo 3. I think it's a great game.

After making my point, I was asked to show what issues it had. I posted the issues. That's not trolling. It's a discussion. You should learn the difference and learn to discuss civilly without insulting me. If you ask a question, but are only willing to accept one answer, why would you ask the question? Why not just state your opinion and say no one else's opinion on the subject matters to you?

Also, that link you gave me doesn't list individual issues with the game.  It only lists which games are even remotely compatible.

That's not entirely accurate.  Here is your first post in the thread:

"Wouldn't that be kind of hard since the Xbox 360 can't play Halo and Halo 2 without some very serious issues?"

Besides that, point taken. Have you by chance played Halo 1 and 2 (not just tried it out, but actually finished it) on the 360?

I think he made a legit post and was just trying to show his backup for it...  Tone down the sensitivity a bit...  They were facts at a specific date...  At least you can play them...  The 40 Gb PS3 doesn't have a hope of playing Bully and you can't buy Bully for PS3.

Sorry if that came off wrong, but I wasn't sure how bad the issues were and I was asking the question of people who I thought had experience with it.  I do own both Halo and Halo 2 for the original Xbox, but no I haven't ever tried them on a 360.  So no, I don't have personal experience with it.

Also, you could be right that these issues have been dealt with in Microsoft updates.  Especially if you haven't noticed any of them.  I was just pointing out that from what I heard on the subject there were issues with playing Halo and Halo 2 on the 360.   There is also the possibility that the code could be reworked and updated for these games to optimize them on the 360.  I just don't think a direct port would work very well.

I mentioned Far Cry instincts in my post as an example... It was a fun game that got the "HD treatment" on the 360 as a newly released title in a two-game-pack with the newer Far Cry on the 360. While it wasn't a huge jump in graphics quality, it was a bit better and obviously was re-compiled for the 360 to take full advantage of the hardware. As I mentioned in my OP, I was wondering when/if they will be doing this as a three-pack as I know a lot of Halo fans or at least people who don't have an original Xbox would love to play through all three games -- i.e. start AND finish the fight...

Well if they were able to do it with Far Cry then I'm sure it could be done with Halo and Halo 2. I don't think the graphics necessarily need to be upgraded much for the game to be successful. Orange Box didn't upgrade the Half-Life graphics much, which people had already played on the Xbox. It still sold fairly well.

Agreed... I dont' have a problem with Xbox and PS2 quality graphics as long as the game is executed well.  I've flip flopped on graphics recently.  After playing bioshock, I felt I was ruined, but I'm having serious, crack-addicted fun with Stranglehold and while the graphics are good, they aren't Gears or Bioshock quality...  I think just a clean port with increased resolution would be fine and it would sell.  I'd prefer they add more cutscenes, fill out the story a little bit more between each episode and so on... u know, make it epic.
