I like the Mac vs. PC ads too.

Sony needs to do something similar to those when the Kevin Butler stuff ends.

I hate the Mac vs. PC ads.  They need to stop singling out Windows' minor issues and start actually advertising their product for a change.  I have much experience with Macs and they have many annoying issues as well, not to mention to get equal performance on a Mac I have to pay twice as much.....

Sorry for going off topic.  The PS3 ads are great because they are advertising what the PS3 does and not taking shots at MS or Nintendo.  The Mac ads just make me want to punch something because of how blatantly they deceive people.

Window's "minor issues"?

Yes.  Have you fallen for their scare tactics and deception?  They overblow every small windows issue.  Macs have many issues themselves that they never care to mention.

I have a PC right now, running Vista. By all means, I should have killed myself out of frustration right now. Yet I'm perfectly happy with it.

I guess I'm just insane by Apple's standards.

Around the Network

this is my favourite one.

as far as the mac vs pc ads they make me laugh, but they also make me dislike the company. I find the constant badmouthing of the competition unsavoury (keyword constant). A commercial in my eyes should tell me why I should buy your product, and not why I shouldn't buy the competitions.

Me too.  I've been using Vista for nearly 2 years now.  Never had a problem with it.  Really the majority of their arguments are only even possible because they (Apple) are a monopoly of their product while Microsoft supports millions upon maybe even billions or trillions of hardware configurations with their software and support many other companies with their OS.  Oh poor Apple has better reliability on average, you say?  No way... I guess I didn't realize having just 5 different hardware configurations and propriatary locked software made it easier to develop drivers and the like....

That one is my second favorite!

And I agree.  Apple needs to actually advertise what their products offer rather than trying to highlight every problem the PC has ever had.

gee try programming in it, it's hell-o a frustation.  while doing small things don't cause alot of trouble.

but heavy programs like IDES, games or design app like Vegas, sound forge, autoCAD easy get "dont respond" due vista eating up ram.

unless u have 2gb+ and nice dual core cpu.

Which nearly all Vista machines do

I've used Sony Vegas, Adobe CS4, AutoCAD and more with never an issue.  Perhaps the fault is with the operator and trying to put Vista on hardware it shouldn't be?  If you have an older PC you should stick with XP.  No one is making you switch.

Oh and as a programmer myself, mainly java and C, I have had no issues with using Vista as my platform and designing programs to run on basically any windows PC using Java.

Now enough of this off-topic stuff.  Lets stay on topic to the Kevin Butler Ads.

I ammend my last post on the topic... the Upset Girlfriend one is my favorite   I didn't realize that was what it was called and thought it was referring to the Uncharted 2 girlfriend one

In Apple's defense they do try to insert a little bit about Mac's advantages in the commercial spots, but it's just so overwhelmingly overshadowed by their attacks against PCs that they are easily forgettable.

if u just bought it, by the time vista was on most came with 512mb or 2gb, celeron and dual core for mid-high end.

i got a 1gb DDR2 667. and core 2 duo 1.73 but that doesn't cut it for heavy IDEs like netbeans, or gaming at all even light games .

but my new vaio P8600 2.4ghz 4gb does quite a punch for same apps.

That's really funny.  I use Netbeans on my laptop which is sporting just a simple Pentium Dual core 1.8GHz processor (much weaker than Core 2 Duo family) and have never once encountered any issues with that....

When Vista first launched, it launched with PCs that had at least 2GB of RAM unless you got Vista Basic which is about the same as XP and not as demanding.  Those Vista Basic PCs will be fine with just 1GB of RAM.

Anyhow, in the case of both the Sony and the Apple ads, you do remember the main characters in them, and the ads do what they set out to do.  Apple vs Mac is memorable though.  The difference here is that I believe the Sony ads are more friendly, and enjoyable, even if you aren't a fan of the PS3, you still can get a kick out of the ads and enjoy them.  With Sony, they don't need to be on the attack like Apple does.  They need to make people feel good about the products, and get familar with the benefits.  Kevin Butler spots, as I see it, are having a similar effect that Jack Trenton does at E3.  You don't feel that Sony is arrogant when you see both these, and that is what Sony needs.

I will say the Kevin Butler spots will go down now as the top 5 best ad campaign series ever for a videogame related product.
