Forums - Nintendo Discussion - How will Monster Hunter 3 sell?

I'd bet for at least 1.5m total WW with a max of 2m.

I know I'm buying as long as online is definitely free.

They have said many times that they would.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

like hotcakes.
like American steel
like cheap quality health care
like that chick from transformers 2 that looked like she was always in heat.

It will be huge, huge front, huge legs, huge everything and huge huge.

With Nintendo's marketing muscle behind it, I think this should reach the 2 million target with PAL and NA sales, especially if the online is free.

Capcom wanted 2 million worldwide.

With the 1 million they will get from Japan, it will be below their expectations.
Europe won't buy much of it (they barely buy anything anymore), but America may be around 200k-400k.

So low end: 1.25m (1m JP, .20m NA, .05m EU)
High end: 1.51m (1.01m JP, .40m NA, .1m EU)

Wow, you expect such low sales for Europe?

MHF sold 1.42m, 0.23m in US and 0.16m in Europe
MHF2 sold 2.39m, 0.37m in US and 0.27m in Europe
MHFU sold 3.96m, 0.20m in US and 0.23m in Europe

All on PSP, where Europe hardly sells any software.

Yep.  Both this and DQIX/X.  Nintendo wants to make both series just as big in the west as they are in Japan, and have compared to their intent with what they did for Pokemon and Brain-Age.

To be honest, I have no faith in the European market whatsoever. Also, I doubt that the success that would come for a portable entry of the series will fare as successfully on a home console. Sometimes, the move doesn't translate well in terms of sales, and it loses the appeal.

Europe is also Sony's dominant market I believe, so they have some leeway there.
