Forums - Microsoft - How can Xbox Live maintain its greatness?

Halo: Reach?

It's going to take more than a Halo game (or three, in this case, since there is Halo 3/ODST as well) to maintain its greatness.

OT: I suppose Natal can be used in interesting ways.

Rockstar: Announce Bully 2 already and make gamers proud!

Kojima: Come out with Project S already!

I disagree. If Halo Reach has a good multiplayer, I will gladly shell out a mere pittance to be able to join others in a quest to destroy noobs. And I know I'm not the only one.

Past Avatar picture!!!

Don't forget your helmet there, Master Chief!

I'll happily continue to pay for XBL. I just meant the general public. To newcomers, basically.

They don't really need to do anything, it is already entrenched. The reason that Live is still successful is because people want to play with their friends, and if their friends have Live, they are not going to change to PSN

Ultimately, they don't need to do anything, they can't do anything that will really make it that much better than PSN, but it is worth it to play with your friends, and having games like L4D2 and other more co-op centric games (Xbox exclusives tend to be more co-op friendly it seems) will also reinforce this

I don't live in america so the wii could have netflix and it won't matter to me. Even though I have a wii

What I would like is when your friend is onlne and gets and achievement you get an achievement notification saying who got it and what.
How about the ability to see your friend playing. If they are about to do a part of a game you havent they can say watch this and you'll get a PiP on your screen showing them playing their game. I don't mean showing the person sat their in their underwear holding the remote playing but what they see on screen. Sort of similar to the onlive feature where you can watch people playing.

@ lord flashheart, that is an interesting idea, but if you have loads of friends, it could get annoying if you have achievements popping up every minute, but of course you can probably tune it so you only do it with selected friends or something like that. I think the PiP is an interesting idea, that probably not achievable on current generation hardware, streaming an HD video while also creating the image might be a step too far... I don't really know

Well, with Xbox live you also get demos first, and gaming with developers, and all those little quirks also. As for something BIG to put Xbox Live ahead...i'd have to say...make more game franchises incorparate a Halo: Waypoint-esque feature, and have a Community within the Dashbaord. It would be (for lack of a better reference) like PlayStation Home, or IMVU, however it could be a tab within the Dashboard that says like, "Community Spaces" or something and it'll be a Room similar to the waiting lobby for 1 vs 100, where avatars are kinda all about, and you can join into parties, or game spaces, or check out a person's acheivements, or just hang out.

MMORPG with a storyline, an ending, and a $1,000,000 prize for whoever deals the deathblow to the final boss. Make it last for one year, and the storyline and environment changes as time goes on. Mini-prizes for users who accomplish certain goals, too. And Micro Transactions to make the whole experience profitable.

You sound like Peter Molyneux O.o

FaceBook , Twitter , Last FM , Zune Videos , NetFlix and Sky will Bring Thousands of users to Xbox Live that dont want to play games...

As a Gamer i just want the 360 to play Games both offline and online and i will still pay 50$ for year for that.

But i wont use Zune , Last FM , Twitter or FaceBook , the unique thing i would use is Netflix or Sky but both arent on my country.

I wont but milions will and alot of people will buy Live for Sky and Zune Videos.

Also alot of people want 360 Games and not Ps3 Gamers , i think Splinter Cell will move Consoles , Natal and Reach Aswell.
