Forums - Nintendo - Are gamers at fault?

I know every one says when a third party game comes out it usually bombs cause of no marketing or any major pushes from the publisher.

But do you think that as gamers that we are at fault for not doing that marketing strategy "word of mouth" by spreading news about good games... just a thought?

If you think that you have helped sales of a particular game state why? and how many copies of a game you know you have helped sell..

Never, ever blame the customers (gamers) for low sales. If a game didn't reach out to enough customers then someone miscalculated or just messed up, but that someone is NOT the customer.

... I usually market a game if I really like it... example is playing Madworld in a public lounge to get people interested... or post something on a social networking site to get people's attention... maybe I should just ask.... what have you done to help sell a third parties game...

Why would you do anything to help sell a game. I could care less if the company makes profit. All I care about is good gaming, and if I play a good game and I know someone who might like it, then I'll tell them about it, but that is it. There is ZERO responsibilty on the consumer to help the product sell.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
In the past we played games. In the future we watch games. - Forest-Spirit

Well, if you want a game to sell, first thing to do is actually buying it. Then you could tell friends about it, or post your impressions about it on a internet forum (like this). Of course, if you're really fanatical you could start a whole ad campaign. Put banners on your blog. Write reviews.

Even if you don't care by you telling someone about another game is free marketing for them.... and I feel like the consumer does have some  to responsibility get more good games made... you vote with your wallet!!

I would think a more aggressive marketing campaign would be best... like making a group and getting people from major cities and have them post signs everywhere... I did that with the ds at my high school and it worked very well.... also I got certain key people a ds which also greatly helped...

Here is how it works. Its my money. I worked hard for it. Get me to spend 50+ dollars of my hard erned money on a game.

Albion - Its Fun as Ballz !!!!!

My job is to buy the games I want to play, and play them. Their job is to make me want to buy their game. It's worked out pretty well so far. When it becomes my job to persuade and market their games for them, I expect a check.

I eat Blue Bell ice cream. Is it my responsibility to tell everyone how good that ice cream is? Don't they have a team of people who get paid a shitload of cash to market these products to the consumer? If a company doesn't, the need to hire one, or accept their abysmal sales. If a company does have one, and they suck, they need to fire them. In no case is it my responsibility to do anything more than not steal their product.

It ain't my fault.
