Yushire, you aren't listening. SMG was a completely revolutionary title. People were calling it one of the best games ever made and the best 3D Mario ever made. NSMBWii isn't going to be called the best 2D Mario and it won't be called ne of the best games ever made. Therefore it can't be compared to Mario Galaxy just because they star Mario. They are two completely different games.

Core vs. Casual has nothing to do with it. Stop being so defensive. It'll double the sales of Galaxy but it won't get the GOTY award in many places this year.

I expect NSMBWii to be a very fun ang good game, but I don't expect it to be in the same league as SMG (like I do for SMG2). If you beleive otherwise that's your opinion and you have every right to have it (though it's like expecting the next dreamworks animation to be in the same league as the next pixar animation).

@puffy----> So Malstrom was right about core gamers after all. I dont want to be frank but SMG isnt the "revolutionary title" on mario 3-d games either. Yeah it have high production values yeah it have many levels but its not different from other mario 3-d games either... Though the explosion and flying part was good though. But then Zelda TP was GOTY too even many fans were disappointed with it including Malstrom including me after I've seen OOT on youtube and it looks like the same, only with incremental upgrades.

GOTY in sales or in the review scores???
I think it won't be GOTY in neither
since MW2 got GOTY in sales
and UC2 got GOTY in review scores.
No offence wii folks.
MSG was a great game no doubt btw.

It can easily be game of the year amongst gamers and the sales will show that. But that is not the game of the year you are talking about. It can never be game of the year amongst critics because it is not a HD game and Mario is not carrying a gun (can't Nintendo help matters by giving him a fire flower gun?). Game of the year will surely be Call of Duty.

I'VE PLAYED IT. I wont say anything about SMG if I didnt played it. But I wont debate about it since its not the topic and as for Zelda TP like I said it feels the same as OOT. I like Majora's mask from the youtube vids so far, but its too scary even for long time fans I've seen the last boss battle. If theres Zelda game that looks like it then it deserved to be GOTY. And i watched the review majora's mask when I was young and it dont have that good of review unlike OOT.


About the topic, so its because its a 2-d platformer it means it doesnt deserved to be atleast have great reviews. But then thats how it goes isnt it? Now that i think about it, I think I dont care about GOTY awards right now. Seems even gaming journalism are biased about their preferred games.

*sigh* even how much i deny you're right in all the things you say. Yeah I think COD MW2 will be the GOTY even theres no new content for it asides from new maps, weapons and modes and killing streaks. Yeah it changed abit but its not different from mods and UGC can do. No wonder Activision wants to be strict in dedicated servers I wont be surprised if Activision will force the players to pay for downloadable maps every month
