Forums - Sony - Should i get a new ps3?

For the past few days my ps3 has been freezing on me. It feezes when I earn a trophy, checking messages, when I'm waiting for a game to load, deleting messages and sometimes when I'm playing online and there is alot going on all at once. Is my system on the verge of death or is this normal?

Maybe. Which model is it and how long have you had it?

yeah you should call sony...i would buy a new one though i like how the slim looks lol...and the extra 40gb for me would do me a favor, but for you....call sony

It's 40gig I bought from gamestop. I called and they told me to erase everything, I might just buy the slim and retire this one for blu ray use. I have had it since March but it's used.

If you have 300 bucks lying around buy the Slim.

If not, call Sony and see what you can do.

If you got the money to burn, sure. Otherwise spend it on games/other consoles

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Never buy a used system.

My bro bought a used PS3, froze right out of the box...

4 ≈ One

I had the same problems with my 60GB launch PS3 and when I opened it up the problem was plainly obvious, the thermal paste had gone bad

after I exchanged it with high quality paste (I recommend arctic cooling MX-2 or MX-3 paste) it ran perfectly again

for a guide to open up the PS3 and how to apply paste plz watch the ylod guide from Gilksy

The way I see it: brand new/120GB >>>>> used/40GB. You get a more reliable model, 1 yr warranty, a HDD you'll never have to upgrade so I think you should go for it.

However I'd still recommend buying a 360 instead of the same console twice but it's up to you.
