it aint all that... my daughter is even getting bored of it now... its quite limited and easy to exhaust the things to do.

well thats what natal promises to do.

its a 10$-20$ toy.

after the hype it's gone you are done with it.

Careful, you're getting into the same territory that the Wii is a fad and will die.

The difference between Natal and Eyepet is that Natal is a piece of hardware that has limitless possibilites (though we'll see if people take advantage of that) and Eye Pet is a piece of software that what you see is what you get.

-edit-

And don't get me wrong, I think it's an interesting toy for a kid but like most toys, they'll forget about it after week and move onto their next toy.  Knowing that you have to ask yourself, would you rather spend $60 on a toy that last a week or two or $10 on a GIJoe or whatever that will last the same time?

My only complaint about Eye pet is why its gotta be that monkey looking thing? Im hoping they'll have DLC of some sort where people would want to play with a real animal. People around me are dog lovers, im sure an Eye pet with dogs would be more fun, and maybe see how real dog pets try to interact with the dog on the screen lol

haha i like their depiction of it as a useless pseudo toy. really gets people hyped.

Most people will probably get it just for the camera. Not the game.

Really?

  • Eyepet with camera: $60
  • Playstation Eye: $40 (actually, $32 on Amazon at the moment)

Funny you should mention this :)

Playstation Eye: 25 GBP on Amazon.co.uk
EyePet: 25 GBP on Amazon.co.uk

@twesterm

Good point about casual gamers not owning a PS3 (yet)! Is there a PS3 EyePet bundle?

I have no idea about British prices or bundles but I assume they're pretty close.

It's a shame that this isn't releasing in the US this year. This game continues to diversify Sony's library. It's not top heavy with shooters/racers.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

It seems Sony may have a hit on their hands with EyePet. How so, you ask?
As the Wii experience has taught us, so-called casual gamers love to buy useless pseudo games that core gamers would never touch.
EyePet apperas to meet all the necessary criteria to become a huge success:

-wholesome "fun" for the whole family
-no violence, so parents love it
-no challenge or traditional level structure
-low scores in reviews by core gamers
-totally useless but super cute

I don't believe people who post in forums like this are qualified to speak on what will be a hit with people who aren't videogame hobbyists.  As can be seen by the above writing, it takes cheap shots at people who have more to do with their lives than play videogames.

Like I said, the EyePet-camera bundle is sold for the same price as the camera on Amazon UK.

But I was asking about an Eypet-PS3 bundle. Sony really need one, with that cute critter on the box to make little children cry in the store if mommy & daddy refuse to buy one.
