Forums - Gaming - Don't you wish that we could go back to the good old days?

I'm talking about the controversy and corporate backstabbing. I'm talking about things like the Sony/Nintendo split despite the original agreement, Square shifting the Final Fantasy series to Playstation without warning, Sega's monstrous console flops, etc.

All we have nowadays are weak little statements against rivals, like Sony saying "we're not competing with Nintendo", Turn 10 saying "Forza is better than Gran Turismo", or Microsoft saying "Natal is not just with pre-set waggle commands".

What happened to the big news? What happened to the days when game makers had bigger balls, when they could really spit in their competitor's faces and smile???

Costs rose, so nowadays you can't do corporate backstabbing without a good reason. A shame...

The market grew.
A natural evolution.

When things are bigger, things move slower.
Deals are made years in advance, everything is planned, too much money involved to take risk.

It's the way God wants it.

Is it because backstabbing is expensive?

The internet happened, the news is just as big but since it's now so effectively distributed to the consumers in such a plentiful manner it's just not as amazing anymore.
